Just approved for

Sean, I tried to get that one but they said it's not available in the US yet. Seems strange to me as she is from the US.

Lol. Doubleday doesn't like me. After being declined on EW, I did an early request on overdrive for it. Whoop-dee-doo...

I do spelling challenges for fun and that's the last letter I need to finish the 2 I'm doing this month.
But who says I have to stick to ARCs? Anyone have a good recommendation for a thriller that starts with an E that isn't by Sue Grafton? (The, a, an don't count)

or

This one is second in a series, Megalion, and got 5 stars from me. . Best read book first one for the character development, but the plots are stand alones. Book one is Silent Scream

If you like historical fiction, there is also Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald.

Again, if you like historical fiction, this one is about Malcolm X, and his daughter is a co-writer.

Personally I can't recommend Patterson's Zoo.
I've got a hibernating read of Zoobiquity: What Animals Can Teach Us About Health and the Science of Healing

Plus

I've got no options for X for myself

I'll be piggy backing off your X request. Heehee.
IMO, X is the hardest. Q not so much. .. find a book that starts with Queen. Mine happened to be Queerspawn in Love: A Memoir

The Conjurer: Orion Chronicles

Looks like it continues with the characters from the earlier books. And yes, that's the Dr Who Barrowman and his wife.

Wow, Angela, that is mind-blowing!! I have won nothing in 2 years though I try and try and try!

Your approval looks good Zip....might just have to take a peek and push the button*:D

And another fail on pausing between reads to write reviews. Went right from The Other Einstein to The Eloquence of the Dead (thanks for the rec Pia!)

I think I'll go with Xingu or XO
X by Sue Grafton I already read. I'm a huge fan of Sue Grafton.
For Z I found Zaremba, or Love and the Rule of Law.
Zero K sounds good, but it's UK only

I've got 70, currently juggling Helen H. Durrant - Dead List, William W. Johnstone - Ambush of the Mountain Man and an advance copy of Rachel M. Martens - Poe: Death's Mark.

Reading All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker, not sure at all yet.
20% in and very bored !
A slight improvement but not much

I promised myself I wasn't going to have so many pending reviews at the same time, but it's happened again...
I'll spend all afternoon and half the night writing them, but my feedback should go up by several points.
Quick q: do publishers say why a request is not approved? By book's on net galley and some have been accepted, some not, so interested to find out how it is for readers. Thanks :-)

You are pretty caught up on NG Christine, good for you!
I won't even mention the number of TBRs I have on there lol.

Berkeley kept rejecting me. They require you to have a blog with at least a 1000 followers. So I just don't request from them anymore. Most of the other publishers my requests have been accepted.

Hi Nikki!
Generally publishers don't give specific reasons why. There are a few generic, standard replies of rejection but that's about it really. I've never asked a publisher specifically. Just know that some of the bigger houses are notoriously harder. Orion springs to mind. Don't think I've ever had a yes from them.

Yes but it makes it hard to choose what to read next, especially since I put books on hold at the library all the time as well as win Goodreads Giveaways on a regular basis! I am reading four books at the same time right now all different genres so I don't get them confused though.
Ah, it's a 1,000 followers mark for them. That's interesting. I'll have to find out what my publisher's criteria is - ashamed to say, I haven'y a clue, although I've found that if someone requests my book, they're usually lovely at posting reviews. Hope your requesting goes well. Super to meet you.

@nikki, sometimes they do. Usually it's a blanket list of reasons. Which IMO is equally unhelpful.
A couple times it was a direct "your feedback ratio sucks" kinda message. Heehee. Not exactly wrong at first glance but they're not going to take the time to see the context.
I've gotten to the point where I don't blink an eye. If I really wanted it, well poo. Then I go request it on overdrive which means I'm usually first to get it when they add.it around release date.

Granted there wasn't much in the way of new titles over the weekend but I could have done real damage on Friday.
Ooo, thanks for letting me know. Seems like different publishers do things different ways. I know there's been a lot accepted via my my Net Galley book, so hopefully it's good. Hope you get hold of the review books you want! :-)

Thanks! A nail biting moment. Cracking reviews so far, so I can breathe. If you want a copy, let me know and I'll pop a word into Cara at Harper Collins so she can look out for your name. have a fab day :-) x

I clicked on the publisher to find out their criteria as I was wondering why I kept getting declined by them. I usually don't check as most of them I've been approved for. Authors that I read regularly. It was nice to meet you too, Nikki.

Nikki, what is the title of your book? I'll look for it. I try not to go on NetGalley too often so that I can keep by percentage over 80% like they want.
