So I thought this book was called "Thomas and Friends" however I have searched and searched and all I get is Thomas the Train hits. SO the story is about a cat whose humans get another cat. He does not like the cat and gets mad and hides in closet. Then he starts to like the cat only to find that the cat is killed by a car. He is sad and then the owners get another cat - Thomas gets hurt and loses a leg. He does not like the new cat. His old nemesis returns as a spirit and reminds him how he felt when he arrived. He then befriends the new kitten and she helps strengthen his new legless existence. I read this PICTURE BOOK almost 25-30 years ago and I want it for a kids group on trauma. Please help!

(I believe the new cat is called Thomas, which is why you've remembered that name instead.)
