@ Leonie - I just moved your Awesome Author Interview to a dedicated thread since I move them into a different (alphabetical) folder at the end of the month that people who -don't- belong to this community can find by searching down the bottom of your personal Goodreads Author page. Okay?*************************************************************************
Whoo-hoo! Leonie Rogers got back to us quick so we can READ ABOUT all the cool stuff that inspired Frontier Incursion.

If I can pry this book out of my teenagers hands, maybe I'll get to finish reading it in time to leave a review before the end of the month? Teen sees book and snags it. Very good... :-)
Bumping this thread because several group members are interested in this book or currently reading it.
I’m rereading it and enjoying it very much. Lots of weird plants and animals, struggling colony of humans from a crash a few hundred years ago, and an alien ship invades the planet. This is the first book of a trilogy.

That's so good to hear, Teresa :) I'm a re-reader, and it makes me so happy to hear that it's holding up in a re-read!
I enjoyed reading Frontier Incursion! The humans adapted quite well to the hostile planet! Love the starcats!
For anybody interested, the discussion thread for the sequel is here

What if you grew up on a hostile planet that your ancestors crash-landed on 300 years ago? One where every single human, including teenagers, were expected to help explore and defend the colony against a hostile outside planet? But you didn't have to do it all alone, because on that planet you'd befriended a race of intelligent, enormous, panther-like creatures?
STARCATS!!! Yea! I'm in!
Our YA FRIENDLY pick this month is by one of our legacy SOF members, Frontier Incursion by Leonie Rogers.
"For Shanna, joining the Scout Corps had been a dream come true. The Scouts were charged with expanding their knowledge of Frontier, a hostile planet their ancestors had crashlanded on 300 years before. As the youngest in her class, Shanna struggles to find acceptance and respect amongst her older peers - a task made more difficult by the fact that she has not just one, but two of the colonists' huge feline companions, their starcats.
On a routine patrol, she and the other cadets are swept up in the greatest challenge yet to be faced by the settlers of Frontier. Now they find themselves on the very frontline of a war they knew nothing about, and possibly the Federation of Race's last chance against the hostile Garsal. Suddenly their world has changed, and in ways never dreamed of by Shanna and her fellow scouts..."
