SOLVED: Children's/YA > SOLVED. YA Fantasy series. Young girl with powers, related to water and the ocean. Set in a fictional land - i remember she had blue hair and I think there was some sort of religious element to the magic. Read before 2008. Spoiler. [s]

Emily | 3 comments Probably published in the early 2000's definitely read before 2008 and it was a series. Remember the final scene being her again an elder (male) on a ship out in the sea and she had to sort of sacrifice herself or her powers to defeat him. It was also definitely a warm water environment not cold. The cover had lots of symbols in a circle on the front - or four symbols like a compass on the front...

Ann | 166 comments This is a long shot, because there's no blue hair, but just to rule it out, I'll suggest Tris's Book. the cover has four symbols in circles, she has water/ocean/weather powers, it's part of a series, the magic itself is not religious but she's being trained at religious Temple by members of the religion, and this particular book they are fighting pirates, and the final battle is has her on land fighting people on a ship out at sea, and was published in 1998.
