I'm looking for a rare book that I think was listed in the Barely Exists list but has since been removed. Its an anthology of stories where the protagonist is introduced doing something weird, suchs trying to housetrain an armadillo or find a town where no one has ever laughed. (Not those specific examples, probably, but similar in tone.) The "mystery" lies in figuring what he's doing, which is only revealed in the final moments of the story. I feel like the title was something like "The Conundrums/Mysteries/Enigmas of (Protagonist's Name)". I have not read it, but I believe the book was from the first half of the 20th century. Any clues?
It's short stories I believe, all by one author. And I mean the list entitled "Barely Exists" on this website - search for it, it has some weird oddities on there. I could swear I saw this book on there, but it's gone now.
Any clues?
