Okay, so the only thing that I clearly remember is a scene towards the end of the book where the main character's dad rushes in and he had just killed someone? I think he was having an affair and he may have killed the woman or the woman's husband. I have a vague recollection of rain and baseball bat?? But I read it in middle school, and I checked it out from my middle school library so it would have had to been a young adult novel not adult fiction. I was in middle school from 2008-2011. I remember that the book was on the shelves that had Speak by Laurie Halse Andersen and all of the Sarah Dessen books, so I KNOW the author's last name has to be around there. I don't think it was a very popular book or by a very famous author, so nothing is coming up when I search for it. I just remember that the book was NOT about the murder. I feel like it was a huge surprise at the end. But I was like 13 when I read it and it's been over 10 years so my memory is hazy. I also feel like the character's dad may have been rich or famous.. OR that the woman he was having an affair with was. Something is ringing a bell in my head that she may have been a newscaster, but that may be totally off base. Thank you for your time, this post is a mess hahaha.

Abby, what is the genre or tone for this YA novel - e.g., mystery, coming of age, realistic fiction, angsty, some romance, etc.?

Location?

Abby Newell | 3 comments Hi Kris! If I remember correctly, it was a mix of coming of age and some angst. It had a very Sarah Dessen feel of like dealing with "hard" issues but still keeping it relevant to teens.
