Iron Man, In Death Series, Buddy Read Challenge [Next Release: #61 Framed in Death -- September 2nd, 2025]
I have my hold at the library for the newest release! Was hoping to actually read it this month, but I have a few weeks yet
1/3 through Random...
Title says Random, but so far, it doesn't feel 100% random... (view spoiler)
That's definitely gonna help Eve solve the case...

ROFL... Eve is so famous now, even the purse snatcher didn't mind being caught by a legend, lol...

Had a bit of space, so I chipped away at this a little and read #54 Abandoned in Death yesterday/today. I think that was the first time we had a past storyline along with a present-day one, which made for interesting clues. I also liked at the end, how (view spoiler)

I don't think there's such thing as a truly bad In Death book... just some are better than others :D

Ditto! Iain & Choko!
Glad to see you're still chugging along, Monika! Giving me hope that I'll pick up those last five books soon too...
Thanks guys! At the moment I'm treating it as challenge not buddy read as BR for it finished with December last year ☺️
They are unique... I can't think of any other series quite like it... most other prolific bestselling authors have been either
A) duds from the get-go
or
2) Went downhill after awhile...
I still like Michael Connelly, but it feels like he's slowed down releasing new books...

Nora Roberts knows her formula and audience, and does both well...I was just thinking about this series, and how I really enjoy them but also don't feel burning need to get to the next--they really stand alone very well, and are almost slice-of-life really, with a very mild bigger picture... not a closed series where you feel like you're missing part of the puzzle if you don't finish...

Yeah its not so much I need to know what happens next, but they're definitely comfort reads at this point and I wanna be back in the world :)
Deffo a big one Iain! Total mess up for Eve and Roarke. But with Dr Mira and Galahad they survived it.
You're in like a golden era of Eve Dallas books right now... it's not like they get bad, it's just around book 33 the series is riding high on resolving a long-running plot arc, and exploring the emotional fallout...
And, I updated the thread title to be more like the Wandering Inn, tracking the next release, since they happen every 6 months...
Maybe the thread will be semi-retired when Monika finishes catching up :D

The original plan was to retire it, once we were done with the weekly/monthly pace... that would have been in 2025/2026 I think...
Doublechecking, Wandering Inn is still a book club...
It could stay active... it's just gonna go dormant once everyone that stuck around is caught up...
That's what I consider the archive folder... dormant, not dead... threads that are no longer active, but mods don't want to delete and lose the great conversations that were had...
I can keep this one active... at some point, the number of threads I'm maintaining edited titles for will become unwieldy, I'm sure, as the number keeps growing...
And the series probably won't be done until Nora Roberts is dead... or unable to write anymore... luckily, it won't feel too bad to never have a definitive ending...
I feel like Nora could write a de facto epilogue that could be tacked on to any book, (view spoiler)

I'm just reading in my own pace... No buddy reader unfortunately to read with me, so I'm not putting them as BR in my spreadsheet. I have everything till last published one on my pile or on kindle, so going through them bit by bit now...
Yup... 59 weeks in a row is/was a big commitment, depending on monthly reading habits... it's a great series, even solo, tho...
I'm around average 15 books a month, unfortunately couldn't find JDRobb on time last year and didn't want read from the middle. Was easier to grab anything after 40 then anything before number 25.

Thank you for keeping it open. The current title keeps it off your plate for at least a few months.
And yes, I read the same thing you mentioned in your spoiler.
About half of number 35 behind me. Airborne thingy to make people delusional and aggressive... That interesting bit of case.
Keep on chugging, Monika! Maybe when you hit 50 I'll be ready to finally finish this series up too... I've been procrastinating on the last five books...

I'm about 1/3 of number 30 - Fantasy in death. Hmmm interesting way to kill someone... Not easy for Eve to find the culprit in this one so far...
