Shyanne (foxtarts) | 4 comments Hello, I have a few series in mind and wanted some recommendations on what series i should start/continue next. I read the first book in the Well World series by Jack L Chalker and really liked that, I got the whole series of that. Another series of interest to me is the Sholan Alliance by Lisanne Norman was really good too. I also have been looking at the Gaea Trilogy by John Varley and the Hyperion books by Dan Series and the Rama series by Arthur C Clarke. I am also open to reading fantasy novel series that heavily focus on fantasy races? Fantasy novels where it's all just humans kind of bore me and i'd like it if there were at least one or two fantasy races as some of the main cast of characters so I wouldn't mind recommendations for some of those too? Is the Witcher book series any good? I liked the game? I like a good mix of fantasy and sci fi but if anyone highly recommends one of these over the rest and thinks i should read it next I will take it into account, thank you.

I liked the first Well of Souls book, but didn't get past that one. Although there was another series by Chalker that I enjoyed, if you can find it, it starts with: The River of Dancing Gods The River of Dancing Gods (Dancing Gods #1) by Jack L. Chalker
There is no Kindle version, but the used copies of the paperback don't seem too out of range.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, there are lots of different races in the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett. I'll have to think on others; I'm sure that I know of better ones than those already on your list.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Legends & Lattes

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet and sequels by Becky Chambers

Some in the different Star Trek series

And somewhat in the Expendable series.

That's just from what I've read in the last few months. Follow me for more. ;)

C.J. Cherryh's Alliance-Union books definitely have different species - see here for a listing of them:

Crystal Andresakis | 2 comments I just finished the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlainne Harris and then binged True Blood on HBO. Would any of you recommend a series like Sookie?

CBRetriever | 6111 comments you might try Charles de Lint's books. Some are part of a series, some are short story collections and some are stand alone.

You could try Robyn Peterman

The first book in the series is It's A Wonderful Midlife Crisis

Not as much depth as Sookie Stackhouse series, but similar main character vibes and hilarious at times.
