I can't remember much about this book but it has these kids that are part of a club and it appears that this club focuses on powers the kids don't know they even had. One day at the club a group of people with similar powers came and took the kids and left the club manager/professor behind. They continued to train the kids and there's this one kid in the club (he's the main character) that has extraordinary powers they realize the group that took them is evil and so that kid takes down the leader, supposedly the most powerful person. I believe if it's scholastic and it has lightning on the cover with a few kids (I think it's a trio). It's not Michael Vey though.
