Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

Louise | 552 comments I’m here, can’t wait for this to start. Love the opportunity to tackle my ever growing TBR. I’m living in a dry, but cold South Wales, shelf calls are roughly around 11pm my time. I work Saturday nights until midnight.

I can captain I’d needed unless one of you wish too.
Any thoughts on team names.

Lekeisha | 466 comments Hey team. Greetings from Tennessee. I have no desire to be captain. Cant wait to get started. Busy day today so probably wont be popping back in till later.
Team name suggestions: Dozen get any better, A.L.L. together or A.L.L. aboard- something with our initials.

All i have for now

Alpha's Promise

Date finished: 10/12/2022
Rating: ★★★★☆ 3.8-4
Thoughts:

‘Alpha’s Promise,’ is the 10th book in the Dark Protectors Series. I like how author Rebecca Zanetti, gives each of her characters distinctive personalities that’s unique and unconventional.
Ivar has suffered greatly and, in a sense, lost parts of himself. Always on edge and ready for a fight, it’s a vow made to a brother in arms, that is Ivar’s only driving force. That is, until he meets Dr. Promise Williams.
Being around Promise, seems to calm Ivar down from the bloodlust. They work together to overcome enemies at every turn and form an unbreakable bond.
~~
I gave a rating of 3.8 to 4. Alphas Promise was definitely fast paced, I enjoyed Promise’s fight and flight scenes! (especially the unwanted passenger in her car) 10 out of 10 I would so do that! Some scenes I did find myself rolling my eyes at, like with the whole over the top me man, you woman, or the she’s in danger but let me give her some space because obviously nothing can go wrong. Or like three 8-year olds leaving off of a protected campsite to visit a friend, they just happened to know the guard’s schedules and the blind points. So, there’s definitely some allowances that were made in order to create a peak point, that just wouldn’t fly typically.
All in all, I definitely enjoyed it, I’m already on the next book because it left me hanging at the end on this one character, and hooked me on the other stories behind the other characters.

REVIEW:
Ugh! Loved this one more than the 1st book in the series. Picked up were the first book left off and the action just keeps coming. Questions are answered and surprises revealed for both Mera and Shadow. You can feel the chemistry between Mera and Shadow and the suspense of their journey. Again great writing, great characters and then you're hit with another cliffhanger.

REVIEW:
This was just an ok meh read. I read the blurb and was excited to start a new series. I liked the characters of Ruby and Leo but the story was so all over place that I didn't really feel a connection to them or the chemistry between them. There was more sex than relationship or world building and it was a shorter story so things just seemed rushed. It wasn't a bad read but I don't know if I will continue the series just yet.

REVIEW:
4th book in the series and it just keeps getting better and better. Michelle has to deal with increased pressure from the Wapiti clan to join their ranks and they aren't nice about it. The clan is headed by Michelle's estranged grandmother who uses any means to get what she wants. Not as much focus on the romance between Michelle and Elron but enough that we see they are still progressing. This story was full of so much action and suspense. Loving this series and can't wait to see what Michelle and Elron get into next.

This was the first in the Golden Vampires of Tuscany series and for a series starter it wasn't bad. After catching her husband cheating with her maid of honor on her wedding day she decides to go on Honeymoon herself where she comes across a vampire couple which sets in motion a series of events starting with her being drained and turned. The road to the HEA for Anne and Marcus is littered with roadblocks and sacrifices. Throw in a spurned vampire witch that will go to any lengths to get what she wants this adds a different depth to what is effectively the same vampire fated mate romance. I will probably continue the series but maybe not yet.

Beautiful Creatures

Date finished: 10/21/2022
Rating: ★★★★☆ 4
Thoughts:

‘Beautiful Creatures’ is the first of 4 books from the Caster Chronicles. The story follows 16-year-old Ethan Wate, who dreams of one day leaving Gatlin, South Carolina. A new girl, Lena Duchannes, enrolls in Gatlin’s high school and is met with blatant hostility and is ostracized for her family’s particular differences from other citizens of Gatlin. Ethan, having noticed the ridiculousness and cruelty directed to Lena, he befriends her and protects her in spite of the community’s interferences and hatred. Ethan soon comes to realize that Lena and him share a particular connection, that many things and many people in Gatlin aren’t what they seem.
~~
I gave a rating of a 4 out of 5. ‘Beautiful Creatures’ was definitely fast paced, I was constantly entertained! There was some trepidation on my part, since (gasp) I’ve seen the movie first. I hate seeing the movie then reading the book. Usually there’s no surprises and it lags and it becomes boring. Well, I’m just plain sorry, it took me so long to read it. This book was anything but boring. It was a continues ride, I found differences in the film and book, I completely adore the book, the characters! Amarie/Amma, Macon. I just wished we had more backstory to those characters. There were a few surprises in the book, I’m glad to say wasn’t in the film. Sigh, the reason I rated this book a 4 instead of a 5, is that I personally love a series, but really don’t care for the same main characters to be the main story in each book. I feel like it can drag out and might eventually be a ‘oh no, there’s danger again, and again, then the eye roles.’ However, this really is a good story, and I want to know what happens to Ethan and Lena, so it looks like a have 3 more books to add to my TBR pile.

This has been on my TBR for some time and I forget how much I enjoy Ilona Andrews books. I loved the Nevada and Rogan trilogy and was a bit apprehensive about the story of Catalina and Alessandro. There was lots going on in this book Catalina has a teenage crush on Alessandro, who is more than he seems. Catalina head of house Baylor is tasked with discovering who killed her family. There’s a lot of action and budding romance that seems destined not to happen. As always we are left with a sort of cliffhanger that keeps you wanting more.

Review
This is an enjoyable series set in the village of Whispering falls and nearby Locust Grove. June is a witch who uses her gift of intuition to mix potions for her customers to remedy what ails them. Unfortunately her customers are dwindling as a new homeopath has launched a line of products in whispering falls. When she turns up dead and a new spiritualist is in the frame for her murder June knows it’s a race against time to find the real killer. This was a predictable but cozy read with the best bit when she visits the intuition school and imparts her knowledge on two students. Looking forward to seeing where June goes next.
