Oh goodness! I guess I shouldn’t tell you it was 80°F here today.

Whoops....added it....thanks Sandra

Oh goodness! I guess I shouldn’t tell you it was 80°F here today."
The trip normally takes us just over 1 hour and it took us 2 hours on the way out and about hour on the way home. Visiblity was cruddy on the way out and better on the way back. Coming home very icy. Glad to be home. We could have stayed in a hotel but hubby didnt have his pills for the morning. Thankfully we both are experienced winter drivers. There were lots of vehicles in the ditches. Because of the crosswinds there were a bunch of jack-knifed sems. Would have been a good day to stay home and read.
Hoping when I get to Vegas at Christmas the weather will be warm. Will be first time going away for Christmas. Looking forward to some shows and just chilling with our daughter (45) and )grand daughter (27).

I love visiting Canada but rarely do after it starts getting cold. i spent Carnival in Quebec in 1990 during one of the worst blizzards they had ever had. A year later I did a cross country train trip from Montreal to Vancouver. That was during the summer. i used to go to Toronto to shop for Christmas years ago when the dollar was still strong. My father taught me to drive in the snow which we rarely have here in the South. My city does a lousy job cleaning roads so we pretty much shut down with any snow.

"Is it haunted?"
House Baylor has purchased a new compound following the destruction of their former home. Six months later the Speaker of the Texas State Assembly is murdered, the Texas Warden is incapacitated, an Imperial Russian Prince arrives, and Alessandro's family tries once again to sell him to the highest bidder.
This wraps up the Catalina trilogy in Hidden Legacy. I must admit that Catalina was not my favorite sister when I first started reading the series. I was a Nevada fan all the way. Catalina has grown so much over the course of the series and I have really come to love her and her skills. Becoming the acting Texas Warden really makes her mature more than she already has.
I love the relationship that Catalina and Alessandro have. The path has not been smooth and they are a better couple because of it.
The side story of a missing rare spider adds just enough humor to break up some of the tension in the rest of the story.
The plot is very well done and I hated to put the book down to sleep. Each chapter kept me turning the page to see what else would happen.
There are epic battles, family secrets, and triumph of good vs evil.
I can't wait to see where Arabella's story may take us.
I highly recommend this series.

This was a fun cozy mystery. The start of a series about Harper and Zander who are best friends and run GHI - Ghost Hunters Inc. Harper has been able to see and communicate with ghosts since her Grandfather died when she was a child. Zander has been her soul mate since they were young kids. They now live together. Zander is gay and is quite interesting. I really like him. Jared is a new cop in Whisper Cove and is partnered with Mel - who is Zander's uncle. A womans body is discovered on the lake shore. The story revolves around finding out who the murderer is and what was the motive. Great cast of characters, solid writing and will continue with the series.

Few things in life were more entertaining than haunted houses.
Charley is back! Reyes entered the god glass on a retrieval mission and returns as Rey'azikeen. Pretty soon afterwards all hell (literally) breaks loose.
This is one of my favorite series and I love my visits with Charley and company. I love the wit, the snark, and all the feels that is Charley Davidson. I was pleased that Garrett had a bigger role in this book while I was missing Reyes. And who doesn't love having more Osh in the story?
This book is the ultimate good vs evil as God is determined to send an army of angels to destroy the entity that Reyes has become, and Charley does everything possible to save the man she loves.
I love the interaction between Charley's human world and the supernatural world. I enjoy that there are several storylines interwoven into the plot. Just a little something to keep you guessing. The "children's" books are of particular interest.
The ending is such a cliffhanger that I went back to read the last two chapters. I can't wait for the next book even though I know the series is ending. This is definite re-read.
You really need to pick up this series if you haven't had the chance to meet this grim reaper. I highly recommend it!

Charmed and Dangerous by Lindsay Buroker
Finished: November 3. 2022
Series: Witch in Wolf Wood, #5
Rating: ★★★★☆
Number of pages: No idea because cannot see on my kindle nor on goodreads; paperback edition per amazon.com has 296 pages
Review: This was pretty perfect for the series finale, but oddly low key. Not slow, but calm with everyone taking things readily in stride including (view spoiler) . Morgen has definitely come into her own and has a handle on her powers and new life. Nothing was left unresolved. The romance element was too pat and easy for me; her love interest was way too accommodating and came across in this entry as even more simple.

Gone With The Ghost by Erin McCarthy
Finished: November 8. 2022
Series: Murder by Design, #1
Rating: ★★★★☆
Number of pages: 220
Review: Not completely sure why but I immediately got into this book and enjoyed the main character. The BF ghost, Ryan, whose death had mistakenly been ruled a suicide, was such a dick I didn't buy into her extreme grief.
Except for the ghost, pretty much a straight-up cozy mystery and rom-com. The humor was natural, nothing forced or trying too hard. And main character, Bailey, was an actual three-dimensional adult character rather than a ditz, TSTL or super-powerful character.

Review:
If she had only one word to describe Dominic Milano, it would be "unflappable", Audrey Callahan reflected.
Audrey has tried to leave her life as a grifter and live a normal life in the Broken working for an investigator. Her father approaches her about doing a job to pay for yet another rehab for her drug addicted brother. Audrey agrees with the understanding that this is her last contact with her family. The heist, which involves Egyptian bracelets, goes off well until Kaldar Mar enters the story. Kaldar needs to retrieve the bracelets and needs Audrey's help to do it.
This is the first book of the series that I have listened to rather than reading and I must say it was a hit. The narrator, Renee Raudman, voiced the snark and sarcasm perfectly.
Audrey and Kaldar have similar backgrounds in thievery and evasion. The evolution of their relationship is wonderful. Throw in Jack and George (Rose's brothers from On the Edge ) and Kaldar's nephew, Gaston from Bayou Moon and you have the perfect cast of characters. Audrey's pet raccoon, Ling the Merciless, is a great addition.
The story is face paced with lots of action. Audrey and Kaldar complement each other so well that you know their relationship is going to be hot. Their verbal sparring leads to a very satisfying love scene.
Other characters from previous books pop in as well. Cerise and William play a role in the reacquisition of the bracelets.
There are intense battles, a sketchy evangelist, betrayal, and the ever present evil Hand agents.
This is a series that I highly recommend and suggest you read in order to learn about the Weird, The Broken, and the Edge between.

A bit tired from a huge booksigning yesterday at Bally's. https://facebook.com/groups/vegasauth...
I got about a dozen new to me author books but mainly brought books to be signed by familiar authors. Knocked out a lot of my Christmas list. I may be being a bit grinch-y by getting books for some Star Wars fans I'm not sure even read the books (or at all for leisure) but it's an autograph so I'll tell them it's a "Star Wars collectible."
I have trouble resisting authors at booksignings if I make eye contact. So this time I didn't bring a rolling or backpack anything. Once totes too heavy to carry, I left.
Tables at least were roughly by genre. There was a huge section of "reverse harem" pnr for some reason.

Bitter Bite by Jennifer Estep
Finished: November 12. 2022
Series: Elemental Assassin, #14
Rating: ★★★★☆
Number of pages: 400
Review: It was grand being back in this world with these characters. Seeing how Gin is dealing with her new "queenly" role as head of the underworld criminals. Some of the criminals were whiny caricatures, though. And I did not recognize Finn. Finn morphed into a vapid, uncaring of anyone but a just discovered long lost relative (view spoiler) wimpy version of himself. Hard to buy into a gullible Finn who was cold to Gin and the others.
"How the bitter bite of her betrayal almost destroyed me."Those complaints aside, as usual for the series an action packed, well written adventure. Hinting at more challenges and mysterious villains to come.
I am left wondering, though, just how much more is hidden in the old man's records. And why they don't go over the house and file folders with a fine tooth comb. Finding one folder revealed so much of what was up with long lost relative that it was almost too pat.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Looks like Team 8 got all their reviews in before the next call.
Hope to see you both again on a team....I sure added more series to my TBR pile....Happy holidays!
