Sci Fi Short Story about an Earth spaceship ambushed by aliens, who then request the Earth ship to surrender. The Earth ship responds by sending a metal cube over to the alien ship.

I read this short story about 35+ years ago and it is now stuck in my head. I believe the title of the story was " Situation" followed by a number.

I remember that the Earth ship was nearly destroyed in the ambush, and the only surviving officer was the Psy-Ops officer. The Aliens demand the ship's surrender. The Psy-Ops officer tells them that the ship is too severely damaged and repairs are needed before the Earth ship can think about surrendering. The Aliens agree to allow repairs and during this time the Psy-Ops officer has a metal cube sent over to the Aliens. The Psy-Ops officer knows he has won once the alien ship sends a metal pyramid (I think) to the Earth ship.
