Tracy is awarded a commendation by the new chief of police but accepts it with two conditions: that Kins receive it, too, and Nolasco present the medals. Your thoughts? What do you suppose Nolasco was feeling?

I had a nice long chuckle thinking about Nolasco being pressured into presenting the medal to Tracy! Unprintable -- what he was thinking. I loved that Tracy insisted on Kins being honored as well.

[Robin]

Insisting that Nolasco present the medals was good payback for putting Tracy on the cold cases. I liked that she insisted the Kins get a medal as well.

I wonder how many cold cases Tracy closed along with the Stephanie Cole case. We know that the two prostitutes that were found alive and both had cold cases. There were seven bodies in the basement of the Sprague house and who knows how many more on the grounds of the cabin. Tracy just might break the record for closing the most cases...all in her first week.

That would also be poetic for Nolasco bragging that Tracy's predecessor broke the cold case record!

Robin, I think they mentioned the number 19. Just imagine closing 19 in one investigation. That’s already a record.

By Tracy asking that Nolasco award her those medals, she forced him to have to publicly acknowledge her outstanding service. He can’t badmouth her going forward and it was like making him eat dirt in the moment. It was that shooting contest all over again. Maybe he’ll think twice before lashing out again but I doubt it.

And, by asking that Kins receive the award, too, it presents them as a team. Lots of subtle undercurrents here. Remember, she asked the chief of police to give her first right of acceptance if a spot opens up. And, she made lemonade out of lemons by getting more resources for the Cold Case Unit.

This move really backfired on Nolasco but more importantly, reinforced how good Tracy is as an investigator no matter where you stick her.

I loved this. Tracy not only recognized that Kins and Tracy are a good team, but she gave Kins recognition that would make his children proud.

Nolasco had to eat dirt. I love when Faz told Tracy that he has pictures of Nolasco. His face said what he couldn't. It would give the team something to talk about for a long time.

Oh, great point about a point of pride for Kins’ sons!

I loved this scene so much!! Served Nolasco right for what he did to Tracy. Loved the public acknowledgement for the team of Kins and Tracy!!!

Especially with Nolasco putting out that news story the day after she took the job about how well her predecessor did and what big shoes she had to fill. Loved that her first cold case solved ended up solving so many cold cases.

Nolasco should learn to not bet against Tracy
