Good move, Lois. I didn't think about how to use the completed tab. I would suggest that people check completed on the Plan tab and put their book in the category that they think makes sense. Perhaps letting you or I move it to the completed tab. That will give us the option to move it to some other category where we think it would be more helpful strategically.
Also, I suggest we save up our acorns from pages read or hours of listening until near the end, so we can use them to finish off as many cornucopias as possible.

Today, I'm listening to The Woman on the Orient Express and have about an hour left. I should also be able to finish Gunnar's Daughter later this evening.

That gives us 3 acorns to complete Cornucopia 5.

That seems like a good idea Becky. I went and fixed my finished books so that they can be moved if needed. I also shaded the spot where they are at now. Hopefully this does not make the completed page too confusing.

I just fixed this. Let me know what you think. Also, I just moved your book upgrade over to completed tab. Can you go on the Cornucopia and add the author please?
Whoops, sorry Lois, I moved my book I just finished (The Westing Game) over on the Completed Tab before reading the discussion! I put it down for an author who has passed away. I put it on the cornucopia as well. I recorded my minutes/pages read for the day as well.
I'm moving on to reading The Fortunes of Jaded Women tomorrow!

We're doing great!

Thanks! Everyone that feels comfortable making those changes can move their own. I will move any that are showing completed when I go in.

I am comfortable doing that

Emily, please correct me if I am misunderstanding this. Logically, it would make sense to have to do all 4 prompts, but that is not what the instructions say.

From what I understand, we need to fill all four prompts to fill a cornucopia. The acorns are earned by the amount of pages we read/hours we listen to. So to fill a cornucopia we need to earn 3 acorns (1 acorn=1000 pages or 15 hours) and complete all additional prompts in each cornucopia.

Deborah is correct, Edie. You need three acorns (gathered from pages read/hours listened) PLUS all four of the prompts filled. I'll go look through the directions again to make sure that was clear.
It would make sense to use our first 3 acorns on Cornucopia 5, since we have all four prompts already filled in, but I'll defer to the captains on how they want to allocate acorns.

Thanks for the clarification. As I reread the instructions this AM, I guess I must have not read carefully enough. And it does make much more sense to have to complete ALL 4 prompts.

Would you say this is a majority orange cover?

I would ... the top and bottom plus the orange in the middle. Orange is definitely the dominant color.

Great. Thanks, Edie.

I love this progress we are making! I feel like I'm definitely contributing less than I normally do with a read-a-thon, but seasons of life and all that. I did prioritize my print book yesterday and ended up reading nearly 100 pages, so that felt good.
(Also, peeking at the other teams' spreadsheets, we are tied for the most acorns accrued so yay!)

Does that make sense to you?

Starting to read Chess Story and Go Tell It on the Mountain

I feel like we should use it for Magic Realism because we don't have many books for that prompt either and have at least 2 concucopia's worth of the other prompts there for sure! We can always switch around later if we want. I can update the spreadsheet. :)

I am obviously not updating the spreadsheet since you are not done yet. ha ha...

Hi Edie, I think this completely makes sense! I will go in and update now if you haven't! Thanks!
When I made this challenge, I did not anticipate that acorns would be the thing that would hold everyone back from completing cornucopias! Glad to see this in action lol

Thanks, I will add the book when I finish.

It didn't immediately occur to me, until I thought about 3000 pages (or audio equivalent) vs 4 books. It's nice that books that don't fit a category can be helpful, though, so this is a nice approach!

I'm finding my books don't really work for the prompts, but I am helping out with the acorns.👍
