Brittany Morrison | 478 comments I worked 12s the last two days so I didn’t get a ton done, I will update for what I listened to today though. I’ll have The Suicide House finished this afternoon for the school prompt, only have about an hour of listening left.

JennH | 557 comments I just finished A Spell for Chameleon for the orange cover. I tried to color code it properly in the completed tab. Fix as needed.

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 1027 comments I just finished a second Cornucopia #1 with The Giver of Stars which was an absolutely excellent read! We'll need 3 more acorns, however. I'll be teaching and working out at the gym this evening, but will try to finish Cemetery Boys and at least get a good start on I, Alex Cross tonight/tomorrow! I also have an enormous book I'm reading for the Popsugar challenge that I can launch myself into on Friday-Sunday, The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family which technically has 798 pages, but actually 662 of actual text and the rest notes and footnotes. It's written more as an academic book. I am currently at page 136, so could easily rack up another 500+ pages read AND get it off my Popsugar listing! :)

I do have 2 other rather long mysteries and 2 other books remaining for September Buddy and Book Club reads. So I can definitely get pages in for acorns.

Just FYI-The Giver of Stars cover is not majority orange. :( I know it looks as if should be, but it isn't...

I have all kinds of shorter books pulled for the cover color prompts, just in case we need one at the last minute. :)

I think I have a couple of shorter books for magical realism as well...

But I'm trying to get my last two read before jumping the gun with others!! I had 13 Book Club and Buddy reads for September! You would think I'd learn to limit those commitments, wouldn't you? LOL

Sherri Harris | 1500 comments I finished A Psalm for the Wild-Built. Do you think I could use it for Cornucopia 2 A book set in or about nature (forest, camping, environmental literature, etc) ?

Jen K | 572 comments Sherri wrote: "I finished A Psalm for the Wild-Built. Do you think I could use it for Cornucopia 2 A book set in or about nature (forest, camping, environmental literature, etc) ?"

I would definitely say that nature works for that one!

Just started a book that will work for orange cover.

message 108: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1500 comments I used A Psalm for the Wild-Built for a book about nature, camping... My next book is The Cartographers. Magical realism, family dynamics, mystery.

message 109: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Morrison | 478 comments I am all done with The Suicide House, which should finish our cornucopia #3.

message 110: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3268 comments I ended up having only about an hour to read today somehow, so I only read 45 pages of I Kissed Shara Wheeler. Hoping to read a lot more tomorrow

message 111: by Sheena (new)

Sheena Davis (sheenad) | 568 comments Amazing Read, team!! Half way through & we're doing great!!
I just tagged Brittany's Suicide House to C#3. We just need a few more acorns and we can fill all 5 cornucopia once! And we're well on our way to rounds two and three of some.

A bit of light reading day for me yesterday, but today looks promising for lots of pages. I'm pretty sure I can finish Iron Widow today, just two more hours left. And I'm hoping to finish Good Girls Guide to Murder today too.

Will decide what's up next based on what prompts we need.

message 112: by °~Amy~° (new)

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) I just put A Little Princess in C#3 for Set in a School.

A brief run down of what we "need" to finish round two:

Cornucopia 2:
A Dystopian Novel
A Book With a majority red cover
A book with a person's first name in the title

Cornucopia 3:
A book featuring a ghost
A book by an author who is not alive anymore

Cornucopia 4:
A Magical Realism Novel

Cornucopia 5:
A book that features sports
A young adult novel

message 113: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1500 comments Hi All. I'm currently reading The Cartographers. Magical realism. I got everything done early I needed to do today including dinner, Eggplant Lasagna. My goal is to read as far as I can today & finish tomorrow. If magical realism is still open when I finish I will use it there. I'm impressed with how well we are doing.

message 122: by Jen K (last edited Sep 15, 2022 08:48AM) (new)

Jen K | 572 comments I finished my "set at school" last night as well but it will also work for "dystopia" so I can slot it there.

Will be starting a YA book today.

Never mind: dystopia is also taken, will find another, maybe round 3?

message 123: by JennH (new)

JennH | 557 comments I just put Prodigy into the dystopia prompt. I was debating between that and YA. Please move if needed.

I've just started Dumb Witness by Agatha Christie and Malice by Heather Walter. Both should hit a few prompts.

Great job, everyone!

Sheena Davis (sheenad) | 568 comments I just finished the Iron Widow audiobook. At first I thought it was orange, but wondering if my screen is just making it look that way and it's more red? Some of the actual book photos I google look more red.
Iron Widow (Iron Widow, #1) by Xiran Jay Zhao

Or it would also work for YA
I keep picking the strange coloured books for some reason! LOL
Thoughts ?

message 125: by °~Amy~° (new)

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) Wow, I can't tell if it is orange or red either! Makes me want to run to the bookstore to see it in person!

message 126: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 1027 comments It's so strange how the digital images can vary so much from the actual color on the cover in person. That's how The Giver of Stars was. The actual cover in person is quite yellow where it appears to be orange digitally. Perhaps the colors appear darker in the digital format than in person?

Thanks for sharing this site! I found out about it during the last readathon and thought it was awesome. My search for checking on book covers last night yielded nothing even close to what I was looking for! lol I thought about going through the posts from the last readathon but couldn't sum up the energy. I will have to bookmark the site!

message 134: by JennH (new)

JennH | 557 comments Sorry all! I had to remove Maus II: A Survivor's Tale: And Here My Troubles Began from the spreadsheets. The FAQs reminded me that graphic novels needed to be a minimum of 200 pages, which my book was not.

message 135: by °~Amy~° (new)

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) I allocated three acorns to cornucopia #3. We have officially completed one full round of the board!

Jen K - I moved my book to Author that is Not Alive Anymore and moved your book in School Setting. That puts us one book closer to finishing a second round :)

We really have! And, it's only Thursday (in the US anyway)!

message 138: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 1027 comments I just completed the second Cornucopia 3 with Cemetery Boys which was quite the read! :)

We are now in need of SIX acorns to complete 2 Cornucopias. I will have 224 pages for today along with however many I read of I, Alex Cross this evening. I'll finish that book tomorrow and then I may just read in The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family to try to up our page count without necessarily adding more completed books. It sounds as if the rest of you are reading books that will be easier to finish for more cornucopia! :)

We are AMAZING READERS!

And I just glimpsed at the prior messages and am fascinated by the website regarding cover colors! Wow. What a help! I'll read it in more detail tomorrow...and definitely bookmark that site!

Anyhow, I'll record my pages read before going to bed and then check in the morning to see how things are going! :)

On to I, Alex Cross.

And to complete, all the cornucopias we've started we would need 18 more acorns (18,000 pages). In the first 6 days we've accumulated 16 acorns (amazing team!!) but with 3 days left I'm going to shift my focus to reading pages rather than adding more books.

I'll add my new reads to the spreadsheet in case we decide to swap things around but I'm mostly going to try and just read for pages/acorns to try and fill up as many cornucopia's as possible.

I think I am going to finish the last hour of this audiobook and the last 100 pages of my ebook, then I will listen to some short middle grade audiobooks and read a graphic novel or two. MG books and graphics are great for page counts, and are just fun to read :)

I really like this plan! I always loved reading books to my kids when they were younger and still read some MG just because I still enjoy them.

message 145: by Jen K (new)

message 149: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 1027 comments I started on I, Alex Cross last night and then realized, I really have to NOT read those books just before bedtime because many times they give me bad/scary dreams. (I am such a wuss!)
So I switched off to another mystery. I will concentrate on pages as well. That means we'll still be finishing books, but it is what it is! :)

You guys are amazing teammates!
