Single book- YA 2019 narrator is trying to put together prices of his memory for the entire book about his past and his parents deaths

SPOILERS! I read this book in AP English around 2019. The main character is the narrator. The author is a male. It is written in English. I believe the cover is orange or red and the title is one word or a small phrase, I believe it’s not an English word. It takes place in Europe or Germany during a war, I think WW 2. He watched his parents get shot and his house burnt down by soldiers, from a car window. He then lives with his aunt and uncle. He spends the entire book talking to several different people to try to recall his past. There’s a part in a jail cell and a part at his fathers memorial.
