Picture book about fruit with alliteration

The book has a picture on one page with text on the facing page. The illustrations were semi-realistic paintings of fruit with anthropomorphic characteristics. Lady fruit had lipstick and long lashes. No hair though. There was definitely a tomato and a lemon. The text was a bit advanced for a picture book. possible example - obnoxious orange
Book was read in 2003 so it was a bit older than that. The book itself was larger, possibly 11x14.
