Team Challenge
September 1, 2022- November 30, 2022

Please take some time and choose a team name. Let me know once you have decided on one.

Team
✔️Christine
✔️Michelle
✔️Emeli

Team Spreadsheet
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Scoreboard
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Rules
🧛Each monster has specific chains that need to be completed.
Examples:
1. Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (ABC)
-All the Light We Cannot See
-Becoming Mrs. Lewis
-Catching Fire
2. Create a chain of 3 with "dog" in the titles
-Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike

🧛One person should NOT complete a whole chain by themselves. This is a team challenge.
🧛You may choose which creature to capture first but you MUST complete it BEFORE starting a new creature.
🧛You may use or drop articles: A, An, The
🧛If you somehow manage to incorporate a Formal Buddy Read book into a chain, you will earn 2 bonus points. See the buddy read folder for the current book. They are also listed in the spreadsheet dropdown list (when your team has a thread & spreadsheet assigned to them).
🧛Standard Rules Apply

Scoring
You will get 3 points for every completed book (9 per completed chain) PLUS page points.

Glad that you enjoyed it. We have recently started offering those puzzles here and there with challenges and the Buddy Reads so keep an eye for them!

message 8: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments So a couple of questions...

1. Anyone have a choice on a name? I'm good with whatever y'all want.

2. Do either one of you have a preference on which monster to start with? I have no preference. I'm good with whatever...

message 9: by Michelle (last edited Aug 31, 2022 04:33PM) (new)

message 11: by Upton (new)

Upton | 1012 comments Hey :) I am fine with anything for a name. Ghouls Just Want to Have Fun is cute but I am honestly fine with whatever.

I have never done this kind of challenge before, so I will try and follow your lead. We can start with whatever monster you want. I don't have any specific books to read. I'm open.

message 12: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments This is my first time doing this as well. I keep a list of books that I will be reading for the month. I planned on starting Last Sacrifice and Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law tonight, so I was thinking maybe start out with The Mummy first.

One of the tasks is

"Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively"
and
Create a chain of 3 using consecutive series numbers (123)

Last sacrifice is # 6 in the series. So you or Emeli could read a # 4 in a series or 7 or read a book that starts with M or K??

Or with my other book D, E, G, or H?

Did you have something that was inperative that you needed to start for another challenge?

message 13: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments My current Book starts with an m so i could read for that

message 14: by Upton (last edited Sep 01, 2022 07:49PM) (new)

Upton | 1012 comments So I need to read a book with a N then, correct? Or a K I suppose.

Ok. I have a book for either letter but as long as it works, I will read
King of Ashes as it is over 500 pages. For the extra points.
About how long will it take you both to finish your books? Roughly?

message 15: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments I finished mine yesterday

No biggie. I had to work all weekend. I dont think it matters what part of the monster we work on just as long as we stay with the one until we complete all the tasks.

The mummy one is going to suck.

Hi team! I have a question for you. I am getting questions about finishing early and redoing tasks for higher points. Would you like an opportunity for a bonus monster instead? The bonus monster would have a couple of extra books required because it is a higher difficulty monster to chain. Thoughts? I want input from all the teams before I go forward with offering the bonus.

Hello, a bonus monster works for me, but that is just my opinion, and I am really okay wither way. Thanks for asking :)

message 23: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments I'm good with a bonus monster too.

message 24: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments Im good with a bonus monster

message 25: by Upton (new)

Upton | 1012 comments I will have my book done tomorrow morning first thing. Are you both ready to move on to the next monster?

message 26: by Upton (new)

Upton | 1012 comments I finished my book and recorded. Let me know what chain you would like to read for next and I will start finding books :)

message 27: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments im currently reading a book thats number one in a series

message 28: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments Christine wrote: "I will have my book done tomorrow morning first thing. Are you both ready to move on to the next monster?"

We can't move on till we complete all the tasks for the Mummy.

Arm 2 - Create a chain of 3 using books with pumpkins on the cover

Leg 1 - Create a chain of 3 using books with "mummy" in the title

Leg 2 - Create a chain of 3 using consecutive series numbers (123)

message 29: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments Since Emeli is reading a # 1 book. We can put that towards Leg # 2, which would mean having to do a # 2 and a # 3.

I can do either book series 2 or 3 or both if needed or we can start working on his other appendages. I have a book for pumpkin and a book for mummy.

message 30: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments Another thing I thought of.

I am currently reading a book that is # 9 in a series that has 536 pages which would give us 5 points. Im not sure how y'all want to play this? Do you want to try for the most points? Do you want to just play it as it comes along like following Emeli's book 1 with a 2 and a 3?

I'm not a competitive person. I play to have fun, but if need be I can play that way. I'm adaptable and just want everyone to have fun. So let me know what you 2 want.

I have a pumpkin book that i will be working on next. It's an R.
L Stine so it wont have a massive amout of points..lol.

message 31: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments neither am i i just play for fun

message 32: by Upton (new)

Upton | 1012 comments I am good playing for fun. And sorry, I meant I was ready to move on to the next task, not monster. At least I think that is what I meant LOL. Hindsight.

If Emeli is reading #1, should we just go with that? I have a book #2 in series I was holding to read. I will start that one, but I can move to a number 3 book as well.

message 33: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments Gotcha...

That sounds good. We can just follow suit with what Emeli is reading. I have a ton of 2's and 3's so i have no preference. I can do whatever.

Have either one of you found a pumpkin or mummy book?

message 34: by Donna, Curator of Challenge Terrors (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7732 comments Mod
Try the Q&A. There are some helpful links at the top to help you find books...

message 35: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments I have finished my number 1 Book and put it on the spreadsheet

message 36: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments I got a Mummy book done.

message 37: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments Scratch that mummy book that I did. Since it was a children's book, the word count was not enough to count. so back to the mummy drawing board.

message 38: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments I am working on a # 3 book for the mummy leg. I will look for a pumpkin and a mummy book.

Have either one of you found one yet.

message 39: by Upton (new)

Upton | 1012 comments I found one and finished it. Dark Harvest I picked it up on Audible. It wasn't great but it was quick. 169 pages, so only 1 point but it worked for the challenge. I think I can share it with a friend if either of you want to use it.
So I completed my tasks for the mummy. I'm happy to read something else if needed.

message 40: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments i have a pumpkin Book i can read

message 41: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments I finished my pumpkin book and currently working on Mummy and the # 3 book.

message 42: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments My # 3 book is done

Anyone have a preference for which monster to tackle next?

message 43: by Upton (new)

Upton | 1012 comments I'm open to any of the monsters. I don't have a particular book lined up to read. Do either of you have something picked out? It seems to take me a bit to find books, I don't know why.

message 44: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments I'm open as well. I have nothing set in stone and just some potentials lined up from browsing. some will be a bit harder than others ike the spider one.

message 45: by Emeli (new)

Emeli Webb | 87 comments I dont have any specific preference

message 46: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2144 comments Emeli..Were you going to do a mummy book or should I look for another one to read?
