Do you happen to remember which football team? :) B&W of Newcastle Utd., or another colour scheme?How detailed are the illustrations? Cartoony (like the Simpsons)?

Hi! If I remember correctly someone was wearing a stripy football scarf and a hat that I think was black and white? But no specific or ‘real’ team was mentioned. And the illustrations were not as cartoony as the Simpsons, but more like colourful pencil drawings I believe. ☺️

Glad to help! This reminded me of some fantasy creature books I read as a kid, so I went down the rabbit hole looking for them. I think I combined multiple book plots into one, so it took me a while to figure out the series. (Stephen Cosgrove’s Serendipity books)
There is a cross section of a family home which shows a small family of goblins/green creatures living underneath the house - they had a little armchair and TV and kettle and everything.
The creatures come up to the house and steal items (they’re not mean, just trying to live in peace). Items that go missing are those such as football tickets, a Pavarotti CD, some keys.
There’s a scene where the dad is singing Pavarotti in the shower, and another scene where the monsters are in the kitchen at night time (I think they scare the dog accidentally?). I also remember the family members (a dad and daughter) wearing stripy football scarves and hats.
Anyway for one reason or another the house collapses at the end of the story, and the picture is of a big pile of rubble and broken house, with the family and the monsters lying in and around the mess, and the missing items are all there.
