Science fiction novel about a virtual reality game but the main character somehow swaps consciousness with another person and has to try to find a way to switch back while simultaneously living this other person's life

Hello! This is my first post so apologies for weird formatting or errors or anything like that. I read this book some time around 2015 - 2017 I believe. Around six years ago when I was in middle school. I found it in the school library.

I remember the main character lived in a city and he had this pod sort of thing i believe where he got into it and hooked up to it and it was a big simulation thing and there were a bunch of "servers" or "games" he could play with two of his friends; a guy and a girl. they played games together and one time when the main character disconnects from the game he's in a different body and a different house that he doesn't recognize. he then figures out he's swapped bodies or consciousnesses with someone else and he tries to live this new person's life while trying to figure out how to get his body back. i do remember he finds out this other person has a girlfriend and she notices he's acting weird and won't talk to her and so he tries to sit her down and explain what was happening and initially i think she freaked out but then kind of understood and decided to try to help. he also managed to contact his friends and they were helping too.
