Sept '22 Group Read 1 - My Heart Is a Chainsaw
BTW, here's my review, just in case you were on the fence about whether to join in the reading. If you like horror slasher films, you really need to read this. . . . . . .https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I am stoked for this one! picked it up from the library the other day and plan on starting it tonight!
Been in such a reading slump but I've wanted to read this one for a while. Hopefully this will push me to! :)
Saw there is a second book to this series out. Disappointed in the title of it - thought it should be something like "My Liver Is a Wrench".
Sorry... I'll show myself out. ;p

😆
Own it, it's been in the TBR pile for a while, but I hate reading more than one book at a time, so I'll have to speed-read what I'm on now to get it done by September! Oh, the pressure!!
Yay! The pressure is off trying to figure out which hard copy book to read next. I already own it, and its been in my horrifically huge TBR pile since it came out… This is a great excuse to finally read it!
i'm so glad this made it for a group read! i've been wanting to read stephen graham jones for a long time since i've been hearing such great things about his books. very excited to join in on this one. already placed a hold at the library! :)
I just picked up my copy from the library. I'll probably be done with it before we start the discussion. But I can't wait to see what everyone thinks of it.
I just ordered this book (plus many more 😬) from book outlet. I’m finally out of my book slump and hopefully it stays this way for a while. I’m excited to participate in some group reads again! If some of you are rereading this book it must be a good one!

Yeah!
Most of my suggestions don't even make the polls! LOL

I had to start reading it - for two reasons. One, all the comments here already about how good this book is. And two, because someone's waiting to read this after me at the library so I can't renew it. 😪 Of course, I could break down and spend real money on it and buy it if I end up liking it as much as it looks like I will after the first chapter!
Tonya wrote: "It is good, I just finished it. And I understand, I have to return mine to the library too."Yep! I just finished up today as well and the book's going back to the library. Sigh.
I really enjoyed it and look forward to the discussion! :-)
I'll be reading this one with you all. my first in this group; is the discussion just in this thread?

my hold came through so i started reading already. the first chapter was such a grabber tho! i was completely engrossed. :)
just because I love this group I will give this book one more tryI tried to read it the last year given the enthusiastic reviews, but it ended up on my NDF shelf.
anyway, just the beginning, and all of Jade's blabbering is already starting to bore me bad
@Sally: That's so awesome to hear! I've heard nothing but amazing things about this one. I read his "Night of the Mannequins" a while ago and LOVED it!
I started this today. Loving things already, especially Jades thoughts.Like LTJ this is my second time reading Stephen Graham Jones after The Night of the Mannequin's.

That blabbering is part of Jade's character. I can see how some might not appreciate her obsession and ramblings. I loved her, maybe because there's a little bit of me that relates to her. However, not everybody has to like her, and if you're not getting used to her mannerisms, there may not be much to keep you engaged with the book. It does build suspense and tension but it's a slow progression until the latter part of the book. Don't feel bad if you decide to stick on the DNF shelf.
