This is for discussion ALL OF TIGANA! :D
What did you think of the book?
What would you rate this book? Why?
What did you like/dislike?
Will you be reading more of Kay's work in the future?
Tell me all your wonderful thoughts, good and bad, and I look forward to hearing them! :D

Totally agree with you TS on your comment in chap 20. I see you only gave it a 3* rating, but i ended up giving it a 4.5* rating and that was largely due to the beginning and end which I felt were the strongest segments.

I too was sad about Brandin, although kind of more so for Dianora and how she'd be after his death (which clearly wasn't good as she dived into the sea and swam to her death). I felt like the end battle was really cool and I enjoyed it a lot and didn't want to stop reading, but I felt so sad for Dianora, and for Scelto (although I kind of wish he did tell Alessan about the fool's true identity).

Overall I enjoyed it all except some of the slower middle bits but even through them the world and plot kept me reading and wondering about what was going to happen.

I will certainly pick up more of Kay's work in the future as I loved how he took the time period and integrated it into his world so well with the magic etc.

TS Chan (tschan) | 159 comments I was actually a bit on the fence regarding Alessan being made known of the fool's true identity. Maybe ignorance can be bliss sometimes.

The reason why I didn't give the book more than 3-stars was mainly because I had to take a short break away from it before I can pick it up again. That rarely happens to me so while I liked the book, I can't see myself giving it 4-stars. I also do take the Goodreads rating definition quite literally. If I really liked a book, I will read it continuously.

Fair enough, that certainly makes sense :) Glad you liked it at least!

M | 3 comments This was a bit weird for me. I felt like I was supposed to connect with the Alessan & his group-but I only cared about Dianora and Brandin. I knew that there wasn't going to be a good ending for those two, but I was heartbroken nonetheless. I just found their relationship pretty compelling. I had sympathy for Brandin and really liked him, even after what he did to Tigana. So I just found this strange that I'd connect with him so deeply...honestly I would have been happy if all that were left after the battle were Brandin and Dianora, lol.
It was a good book though, glad I read it.

M | 3 comments One more thing: I do have to say that I didn't get the love aspects of the book other than Brandin & Dianora. They were bouncing from one love to another & that agitated me. I didn't even understand Catriana & Alessan, lol. I was just like...huh? Where did that even come from?
