Laura | 5524 comments Louise, I don't want to mess up anything you're working on, but there are no blank lines on the Tracking sheet, so I can't put in the book I just finished.

I forgot to remove the filter should be ok now

Also, I listened to The Martian. Lots of Potatoes in that one, but that's probably about it. :)"

One of them was only 480 pages. I already posted one of the over 500 page audios because it had Kale in it.

Laura | 5524 comments Has everything been transferred from the tracking sheet to the books read sheet? Are we short 30 books for the month? I have a few more audios I can put in, but they do take more effort to find the words, so if we don't need them I would rather not put them in.

Laura | 5524 comments I'm going to have to work on words for A Court of Mist and Fury tomorrow. The Amazon Look Inside feature is not showing me the sentences for the words, and I have found in the past that if it doesn't show, Google Books frequently can't find the word in the book.

So I'll switch to Google Books, but after I get some sleep!

LaurLa | 2378 comments Louise - not sure what happened, but there's a huge gap in the tracking sheet between rows 175 and 980. I'm not going to try and fix it because I don't want to mess things up further, just thought I'd make sure you were aware.

message 157: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3331 comments All books are now on the official sheet. We have space for 5 more books :)

I think it's where I've filtered the list and not removed the filter once done. All fixed now :)

LaurLa | 2378 comments How are we doing? I finished a not very big book last night (220pp) I can add if we still have spots. Also plan to finish a 300+pp tonight but not sure how late it will be.

Louise | 3331 comments Round 3
Let's get romantic

November is known for...
thanksgiving
topaz
almost summer
almost winter
veterans day
all saints day
rain

It all depends on where your restaurant is located. So for MRR, November is all about Romance (hey, why not?)

Your placing at the end of round 2 gives you the option of certain additions to your meals to better attract Adult customers when you open in round 3.

Place Round 3 Additions

Top 3 Congrats! Now is the time to think about what your niche market is looking for to maintain your popularity
Meals with the word "lobster", "pasionfruit", or "brie" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3

4-7 Keep up the great work, but perhaps get a bit more creative in round 3 to increase popularity.
Meals with the word "prawns" (shrimp is acceptable), "cherry", or "gelato" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3

8-10 Try some new, more popular, dishes to attract your target group for round 3.
Meals with the word "chocolate", "gold", or "scallop" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3

11-14 It is time to try something new for round 3.
Meals with the word "salmon", "mango", or "paste" in the text or title, or used as a spell-it-out will attract more adults for round 3

Louise, do you need me to find the words for the books I had on the spreadsheet with nothing yet? The WiFi at my mom's house has been bad, but I'm at Starbucks right now and can do it if needed.

AT&T is sending a technician out tomorrow, so hopefully we'll have better service soon. And my cell service sucks there, but since we're not going to be there for a super long time, I don't want to change providers only to find that I need to change again once we land somewhere.

Laura | 5524 comments I forgot that this one doesn't end at midnight my time, like so many do. Looks like there's no time for me to fill those in as it is.

I only read 34 books this month. Which probably goes to show that I was burying my head in my books to ignore my home situation!

Louise | 3331 comments Round 3 Special
"◈ Fig and raspberry crostata. (figs, vanilla, sugar, raspberries, creme frache, cream, flour, butter, sugar, eggs, rum, almond meal, icing sugar)
-Must contain figs, raspberries, sugar)"

Bonus
"Use your spell-it-outs and scavenger hunts to find items to ignite passion for couples on a date. Think oysters, roses, crystal.... use your imagination!!
MAXIMUM 20 ITEMS IN TOTAL"

message 166: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3331 comments We started Round 3 in 6th place so these are our bonus words

4-7 Keep up the great work, but perhaps get a bit more creative in round 3 to increase popularity.

Laura | 5524 comments Louise, can you add the monthly special and the bonus words to your post 19, please? That way it’s all in one spot.

message 168: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments If my book says, "He's been fired from the Shrimp Boat.", does that work for Shrimp? The sentence is referencing the name of a restaurant, and the name of the restaurant is referencing the boat which catches Shrimp. So does that count as a mention of shrimp?

I would say so

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I asked about using wine as an item that ignites passion for books under 500 pages and Karen said it was fine. just FYI

Laura | 5524 comments We get 100 books this month? And I'm leaving for my road trip next week. :(

At least I'm starting out by putting my audios on the spreadsheet without delaying. :)

message 173: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) I'm going on a cruise for a week, that's like 20 books right there :)

LaurLa | 2378 comments Maybe my life will get somewhat back to normal now. Between being sick, my husband's knee surgery, finally selling my mom's condo, my grandmother's 100th birthday (with family reunion), crazy work load... I only read 26 books in Oct! Gasp!! And Sept was the same!

message 175: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments I just finished listening to Hunt the Moon. Amazon doesn't have the Look Inside available for the paperback, only Kindle, so I'm using Google Books. Unfortunately Google Books doesn't have page #s. I'll put down everything that is in there, then I'll see if I can find page counts for anything that we do use. I might have to check out the ebook on Hoopla, which only allows 10 books per month.

LaurLa | 2378 comments I finished a book last night that had fish and chips like 5 times!
Hope it helps us :-)

Laura | 5524 comments There are no open lines on the spreadsheet. It's probably filtered, or hidden, or something else that I could easily fix myself. If I knew what it was. But since I don't, I don't want to screw anything up! But I do have 2 books to add. :)

ETA: One of them is Frontier Follies: Adventures in Marriage & Motherhood in the Middle of Nowhere, which is MPG Cookbooks, because most of her books are cookbooks. But this one is not. Can we still use it?

message 178: by Laura (new)

Unfiltered, keep forgetting to do that

Thanks. I'm still up, so I'll add my books now.

message 181: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3331 comments You can use your book as long as the audio is more than 5 hours.
Amazon US has it at over 7

Laura | 5524 comments Looking at my travel schedule for tomorrow, I may finish another book, but I most likely won’t get it entered on the spreadsheet before the deadline.

message 183: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments I was able to add one this morning. That will be it for me.

message 184: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3331 comments I've added as much as I could, literally ran out of time before deadline
