2.3 (Pat's Task) SEASON OF CHANGE
Read 2 Books

I often wonder why we don't celebrate "New Year's Day" in August because it's such a pivotal month of change for many - if not most - of us - in the USA. August is summer's winding down - the freedom and fun filled days of vacations and relaxation are over. August is fall's start up - the beginning of school, football season, and the harboring in of shorter days and cooler temperatures (hopefully).

1. Say goodbye to summer (or winter) by reading an "old" book - one that was published in the previous decade (2010 - 2019)

2. Welcome in fall (or spring) season by reading a "new release" - one that was published in the the past two years (2020-2022)

2.4 (Amber's task) SERIES ARE MY FAVORITE

I'm sure those of you that have been in this group a little while already know this about me, but my favorite thing to read is series. If it's a Cozy series even better.

1. Read the first book in a new for you series.

2. Read any book in a Cozy Mystery series. Tell us the name of the series and what number book it is in the series.

2.5 (The Adventures's Task) BIRTHDAY MONTH
Read 2 Books

1. On the 13th, I'll be 33, it's a lot of 3... Read a book that is 3rd in a series, or with a 3 in the publication year or in the page count

2. I was born on a Sunday. Read a book with a title beginning with any letters in DIMANCHE (except articles)

Three Point Tasks

3.1 (Pat's Task) VACATIONING WITH BUCK
Read 3 Books

August is the month when my best friend and I attend a 3-day-long Buck Brannaman clinic. Buck is the horse trainer that the book "The Horse Whisperer" modeled that character on and was the professional consultant and wrangler for the Robert Redford film of the same name. Buck has been traveling and doing 40 clinics a year in the United States, Europe, and Australia for over 30 years, and getting into one of his clinics often involves a long wait list, so my BFF and I are really blessed to be able to attend not just this clinic, but two others each year. We think of it as "vacation time" even though Buck is a serious task master and our clinic experiences involve a lot of hard work. But it's something we both love and we get to spend an entire week together - three times a year - which, for BFF's is never long enough.

Because she and I live in different states - she is in southern Utah and I live in central Oklahoma - these events take quite a bit of coordinated travel plans in order to get both ourselves and our horses to the clinic event facility and set up to stay for several days. This month the clinic is in Kiowa, Colorado, so it's about halfway between us.

1. Read a book with a MPG of "TRAVEL"
2. Read a book which has Best Friends as the main characters.
3. Read a book with all the letters of "HORSE" in the title
