Horror genre, characters called Judith and Xavier, scenes of devil worship within the first few pages. Read around 1992-1997.

I read this book around 25-30 years ago so 1992-1997. I vaguely remember the opening pages of the book had a ritual sacrifice of a young woman in a dark basement with a huge stone phallus in the centre of the room. I think there was an abandoned convent as well but I can't be 100% sure on that one. I think it had the word Beast either in the title or the blurb.
