(Only read this if you've finished Shadow Study!)

(view spoiler)

message 3: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments I haven't yet finished Sadow study ( my family seem determined to stop me from reading for some random reason) and I still read that spoiler (kinda tempting) , so I have one question... WHAT?!!?

message 4: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
One: You're family is crazy!!! Why stop anyone from reading!

Two: You're crazy!!! Why read that spoiler!!!! Go on and read the rest of the book!!!!!!

message 5: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments I'm trying!! But I'm also being called out of my room every 2 seconds. ITS SO IRRITATING!!! I literally have to start the page all over again because I don't know where I stopped before being called out! I FEEL LIKE CRYING!!

message 6: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
Damn that really sucks! Hang on! you can do it! Just use earplugs and lock your door! XD

message 7: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments THATS A GREAT IDEA!! I was planning on going to the library with the book for some peace and quiet, but that requires walking. So I think the earplugs idea will actually work. If someone asks why I'm not responding... I never heard them!!!

message 8: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
Exactly! and just close your door. As long as no one in your family has lockpicks you'll be fine!

message 9: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments I should really take more advice from you. And I'm the only one in my family whos ever picked my room lock so I guess I'm safe. Ari and Janco really got me interested in picking locks and I'v been practicing since then.
Anyways...
HAPPY READING TO ME!!!

message 10: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments OH MY ACTUAL GOD!!

I just finished it like a minute ago! I got it downloaded straight to my kindle at midnight last night! I have never sworn or said 'WHAT?!' so many time when reading a book. MARIA WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!!?!?!!

I agree with your theory Renee, I think it might have something to do with that but I'm not 100% convinced yet. I thought I might know the The Boss was then BHAM! well there goes that theory!

and now we have to wait aggggggeeeeeessssss until the next book. I probably shouldn't have read it so fast. I should have savoured each word.

(view spoiler)

Hey, can you teach me? I really want to learn so far have had no luck teaching myself

message 12: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
Yeah I wanna learn too! and lets take a glass blowing class together too, while we're at it ;)

Becky, I totally agree with the thing you mentioned in the spoiler!

message 13: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments Ooh yeah I wanna do that too! And learn how to fight, and poison people (well not really but it sounds fun to know about that sort of thing).

Ileana DON'T READ THAT SPOILER!
I couldn't believe it when I read that bit. I felt betrayed and hurt. Poor Valek, he must be devastated.

message 14: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
There are a few people I'd like to poison ;)

message 15: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments Renee! I wouldn't have thought it possible! *best Leif impression*

I know what you mean though! probably best I don't learn how to poison people, for their saftey.

message 16: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments I just had a thought.
(view spoiler)

message 17: by Becky (new)

Do you have paper clips at home? You'll need them.
Here's the link to the website that taught me. It's mostly about practice.

http://m.wikihow.com/Pick-a-Lock-Usin...

message 20: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
Lol I want real lockpicks! And I want to wear them in my hair or in the seems of my clothing ;)

message 21: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
And I want to wear a switchblade! ;)

message 22: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments that last one will get you arrested, its illegal to carry switchblades. Well it is in the UK.

Thanks Ileana I'm going to try this out!

message 23: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments XD . Renee, there are instructions on the net to pick locks with real picks.
Do you want the link?

message 24: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments where can I get real picks from? But I'm totally buying a padlock and a load of paperclips when I leave work today! There is also a load of videos on youtube about lock picking. I'll be popping locks like Janco in no time!

message 25: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments I have no idea where to get real lock picks from, though you can try the internet, here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&am...

The best part about paper clips is that no one will wonder why you have them. And you can carry them around in your pocket all day.

message 26: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments Nice, sneaky, but nice! But Yelena managed to walk around with picks in her hair so it wouldn't be too bad. Plus who is going to recognise what it is you have? Unless you are caught by the police, in which case paperclips would be more disposable...

message 27: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments You're right. Not many people know what lock picks look like.

message 28: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments but now I do! Mwhahaa!

message 29: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 29 comments I finished the book last night. This is what my updates looked like.

03/04 page 340

88.0% "What is the Commander's deal??"
03/04 page 355

92.0% "Seriously Ambrose! What the HECK?!"
03/04 page 355

92.0% "Well, I'm obviously not going to be being any sleep until I finish this."

100% "NOOOO! MARIA! YOU CAN'T END IT LIKE THIS!!!

**Review to come. When I can think coherently.** "

Also, my theory was the same as Renee's. But Becky has a good point.

message 30: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments I was the same after I read it! I've been thinking about it ever since I read it, I even went back a re-read Poison Study to see if there was anything in her early magic-ness to explain the whole thing.

'cause when I started reading it I forgot why I was reading it and got swept up in the story!

message 31: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 29 comments A sign of a talented author... Even in the middle of reading this, I wanted to go back and reread all of the Study and Glass series!

message 32: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 29 comments **Spoiler for last page of the book!***

message 33: by Maria (new)

Maria V. Snyder (maria_v_snyder) | 108 comments LOL - Loved reading this thread! And OMG - learning how to pick locks with paperclips! I've created a monster...or rather monsters. Actually kinda proud of you all! Janco would be proud ;)

Yeah, and about that ending...umm...er....at least it's not as bad as Scent of Magic. And I figured some of you would catch on - but I had to leave a couple clues or you'd cried foul. Am I right?

Becky | 500 comments Maria wrote: "LOL - Loved reading this thread! And OMG - learning how to pick locks with paperclips! I've created a monster...or rather monsters. Actually kinda proud of you all! Janco would be proud ;)

Yea..."

Nothing could have been as bad as Scent of Magic! That cliffhanger nearly killed me!

And as for the lock picking....I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I'm determined to make Janco proud!

message 35: by Maria (new)

Maria V. Snyder (maria_v_snyder) | 108 comments Becky - I've four words for you - Spy Catalogue Dot Com ;) Good thing you live overseas ;)

message 36: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments AWESOME! Thank you!

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments *finally getting over the ending of Shadow study*
That ending. THAT ENDING!! Why? Why stop?
When is the next book releasing? I want to know what happens next! Please tell me... Please?
But yes, NOTHING can be worse than the ending of Scent of Magic. I actually thought Kerrick was dead.

As for the lock picking... It still takes me a LOT of time to pick the locks, but I do eventually. Thanks for the website, I'll try it out now!

message 38: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 29 comments I really should have caught up on the Healer series before reading these threads. :-P

message 39: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments Ileana, can you send me the link to the website. My computer won't recognise it at all. :(

message 40: by Ileana (new)

I'm really sorry Becky, but my iPad isn't recognizing it either. So sorry, I know what you're going through.

message 41: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments Kimberly wrote: "I really should have caught up on the Healer series before reading these threads. :-P"

Did I just spoil the ending of scent of magic for you? I'm sorry! Now I feel bad. I wish I'd put a spoiler warning. I'm sorry...

message 42: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 29 comments It's okay! :) It's my own fault for not having read it yet, I even own it!

message 43: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments It is well worth reading! Avry is almost as badass as Yelena.

message 44: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 29 comments Oh I've read ToP! Loved it. But SoM and ToD were released during my last couple of semesters of college, and I decided to wait until I could binge read them... And I got caught up in other books. :-/
I'll be reading them very soon! :)

message 45: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments Well then,You're in for a treat! I suddenly wish I hadn't read the series, I wish I had just found out about it and decided to read it, that way I would be able to enjoy the series again without knowing what to expect. Actually, I wish I could wipe out my memory, that way I can enjoy the series again and again.

message 46: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
But you can enjoy the series (or any of Maria's series again and again!) it always feels like comming home when I read one of her books!

message 47: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments It does, I feel like iv come into a world that I'm most familiar and comfortable in.
By the way, I just realized something, we've completely gone off topic from Yelena losing her magic to how to pick locks to the wonderfulness of MVS's worlds.
Shouldn't we like, go back to that theory of the baby? Or any other theory anyone else might have? But I agree with the baby theory.
Oo, and can we open a topic about Midnight Son? He is so much like moon man! I hadn't realized how much I missed the cryptic story weaver advice!

message 48: by Renée (new)

Renée (maagtablet) | 620 comments Mod
Lol yeah. I probably should try to keep us on topic more. But I love going offtopic to much to care ;)

message 49: by Becky (new)

Becky | 500 comments I'll get us back on topic...

I still say the finger points to the north. Who would benefit most if there was a way to strip magicians of their powers? The Commander. And he has already tried to kill Yelena once. If anyone is to blame, its him.

message 50: by Ileana (new)

Ileana (theultimateairshippirate) | 282 comments But how did he do it, if it was him? Iv always wondered whether the commander had magic. I mean, he can see the magic in Opals glass animals.
