I was sad that Dr. Havelock wouldn't support her, but I could see his point, given his experience. I thought his apology was sincere. West, being a blood relative made it better odds of working, but still not guaranteed.
I could imagine similar arguments happening today so I gave him a pass. He was also worried about his reputation and hers. At least he apologized.
I could understand Dr. Havelock believing that the transfusion wouldn't work. He made his point and left because he didn't want to be any part of it. I do think he was sincere when he apologized to Garrett.I just googled blood transfusions. They didn't start typing blood until 1907, so before that would have been hit and miss in getting the right person's blood for the transfusion.
I understood Dr. Havelock's concern, but I was a little surprised that he didn't put more weight behind Garrett's research. I expected him to help out a little. I believe his apology was sincere.
