Karin | 9218 comments I liked Life Flight so thought I'd try more of Eason's books--I even gave that one almost 3.5 stars--but I have not fared well with the other two I've tried that were recommended to my by a GR friend. One was written early on in Eason's writing life so I decided to read something more recent.

The pacing is good--there are many things in the book that could make for a very good romantic suspense/thriller novel. However, the POV of the murderer was, to be frank, very poor--I mean the voice and writing of it. In addition the frequent use of things like "bad guys" in Brooke's POV--the first time I thought it was a bit of humour and it made sense, but when it was used over and over it did not.

Another problem is that she uses a trigger word when she describes someone as skinny (it's just as triggering for people who are naturally thin as children and were bullied over it as it is to describe a woman as fat)--although, to be fair, it wasn't nearly as bad as her writing friend Colleen Coble did in Without a Trace my review.

On the one hand, I am very happy to see Christian writers who don't shy away from the gritty things in real life--the Bible has many of those--and who don't have perfect characters. On the other hand, why don't other writers or editors pick up on these things?
