Lynette Eason's newest series, Danger Never Sleeps, starts out with a bang! I devoured Collateral Damage in less than 24 hours.

To my knowledge, Eason hasn't touched upon military themes for a suspense book before. (Possibly in a Love Inspired story, although if so, it was a military hero, not an actual military-based story.) But I was very excited to see that the military was a heavy theme in this story! Some of my favorite suspense books are military suspense. (Ronie Kendig anyone?) The first
Oh my lanta....this book was intense. I loved it so much. I love Mrs. Eason’s writing. She is the queen of Christian suspense.

I loved that this book was centered around two recent Army veterans. I loved that aspect of this book. It was amazing.

Brooke was a relatable, lovable, and compassionate psychologist that I loved seeing grow throughout this book. Her character development was beautiful and I really enjoyed reading her story.

Asher was also amazing. I loved how real he was and how perfect he

Fantastic book with great characters and a tightly twisted plot. I really enjoyed reading it and look forward to more stories with these characters.
What an intense story! This one’s a thriller with no-holds-barred action! The story starts in Afghanistan, but when the characters come back to the US, the mystery only grows bigger. When Brooke comes back to the states after her assignment, she isn’t expecting the war to follow her home.

I sympathized with Brooke easily, especially as she sees friends hurt and killed by the relentless folks after her. While I did manage to work out what was going on fairly early, I didn’t feel that the plot was

Collateral Damage was a great start to a series and I am looking forward to the rest. I really liked Brooke and Asher!

Growing up in a military neighborhood, I have known many people who have served in the armed forces. Between fellow church members, teachers, neighborhood friends, and even family members, military personnel are practically everywhere I look. While I have no future in the armed forces, I still have the utmost respect for those who have defended our country and continue to do so. I've heard stories that have shown me that being a soldier isn't for the faint of heart, and this book is along those ...more
Nice pace and good mystery with two Army vet (a psychiatrist and a special force Sergeant First Class) solving a mystery after being back from war overseas. This is probably my first Christian-Romance-Suspense novel. A lighter version of Joel C. Rosenberg thrillers if you read his books.

There is so much to love about this suspense novel. Multiple storylines come together to reveal a complex plot that has a devastating impact. A team of highly trained professionals, from detectives and medical examiners and investigative journalists, to military men and women and psychiatrist, work together to uncover the threads of this international case. With two main characters that have a great chemistry as well as a heartbreaking connection via shared trauma, this romantic suspense novel i ...more

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Reads. A positive review was not required. These are my honest thoughts.

What a twisty, complicated story! This was an atypical Lynette Eason read for me in that I was not able to figure out very many details prior to a couple of pages before the twists or reveals came. Sometimes her books are more predictable to me (yet still quite enjoyable), but this one kept me guessing throughout. Something that aided that was the high

Collateral Damage is the first book in a new romantic suspense series, Danger Never Sleeps, and I can tell you I am already totally hooked. Although there were many characters introduced at the start of this story, the story itself truly focuses on Brooke and Asher. The other characters have a part to play in the overall story though and I was glad to get to know them. I am also hoping to see them in the next book in the series.

I will say that Collateral Damage is a very intense read, with part

Adventure, danger and a dash of romance make for one exciting new novel by Lynette Eason. Collateral Damage kept me guessing and turning pages quickly throughout this story.

Collateral Damage starts out with a bang literally as several characters are either hit by a bomb or were there when the bombing took place. Eason reveals more about the bombing and a corrupt system through the plot in layers like an onion. . .I got just enough to keep me turning pages before she revealed a little more inform

Great read. A page turner. It was closer to the end before I truly figured out the bad guy. Looking forward to the next book — and hopefully seeing more of Asher and Brooke.

Ok time to review.
Thing is when I don't review right after I read a book the review tends to be short, but that's ok right? There's no rules about the length of a review XD.
I didn't like this book.
So as many of you know I'm not exactly a fanatic about the suspense genre, but I've been pleasantly surprised with most of the books I've read since I started dabbling in it. This one was just a miss for me.
Why? Spoilers. But I'm going to go ahead and say it anyway. (view spoiler)

Debut book in Lynette Eason's newest series, Danger Never Sleeps; and it definitely started the series off with explosions literally. Beginning in Afghanistan during the US-Afghan war Sgt Asher James finds his group in the middle of an IED followed by an explosion in a nearby cafe where he saves Military Psychiatrist Captain Brooke Adams. The action continues from there and peaks higher and higher until a final solution to all the things occurring in an Afghan Orphanage that connects to base per ...more

One of my very favorite suspense authors, Lynette Eason has started an incredible new series: Danger Never Sleeps.
The content of Collateral Damage is quite current and full of excitement, intrigue and heroes to be envied. The series tells about a team of friends and acquaintances who are brought together by various crimes. This book focuses on former Army members Asher James, now an FBI agent and Brooke Adams, now a psychiatrist in private practice. The book starts out with a scene of how they

This book was very good and definitely kept you turning the pages. It wasn't predictable and was unique in the overall storyline. I'd give it a solid 3.8 stars ;) I wasn't completely captured by the characters the way I like to be but it was a solid, good book with a good story. Kept my interest and was suspenseful, for sure! ...more
Lynette Eason never disappoints! I just love her balance between the suspense and romance (which never overpowers). Her suspense again kept my turning pages and even though my guess of a suspect was correct, I was actually shocked at the crime and this person’s heartlessness!

I loved the military setting and how the author kept the characters realistic - even though they left the military, they still struggled with flashbacks and other side effects of there stint in the military.

Lynette Eason does it again and I'm so glad she did! The quick-paced plot sweeps readers from the dangerous and unpredictable setting of Afghanistan to what should be the peaceful, civilian world where a former military psychiatrist and Army Special Ops soldier can rest...

The action begins in the first chapter and doesn't quit until the final page making this book a quick read but a very satisfying one. The intricate plot weaves high-octane suspense around the delicate issues of PTSD f

I think one of the things that strikes me most about this novel is way the author paced out the plot. It starts out kinda scattered -- a group of soldiers in Afghanistan, a group of female friends with a mix of military and civilian jobs on the same base and then it moves state side with the introduction of more key players. Everything seems disjointed and a bit confusing. (I actually jotted down character names and occupations to keep it all straight as I read on.) And then Eas

I am always excited when a Lynette Eason book lands in my mailbox. I dived in and thoroughly enjoyed Collateral Damage, it’s book 1 of the DANGER NEVER SLEEPS SERIES.

Getting to know Brooke Adams an Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class, Asher James in this unique story was an absolute pleasure. My mind was blown when the “bad guy” was revealed. Eason does a great job of depicting their struggles and their triumphs.

With page-turning action and suspense and immense personal growth, these two chara

Like all of Eason’s books this one definitely got started with a bang and I felt like I was there with the characters in the war zone. Unfortunately things got a little chaotic for a bit as there were a lot of characters and different plots that initially didn’t seem to jive. But like the skilled author she is Eason managed to bring it all together in ways that were surprising me up until the end! And after the initial confusion of the first 100 pages or so I got totally hooked into the story an ...more
Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James suffers PTSD, as did Brooke Adams, the shrink he'd decided to see. She also happened to be someone he knew in Afghanistan, in fact saved from a cafe bombing. This, and the fact that someone was out to kill her, bonded them from the first moment he stepped inside her office only to find a body on the floor.

Meanwhile, back in Kabul, several people James and Brooke knew were involved in something fishy in an orphanage. Some are trying to fles

Lynette Eason, the queen of nonstop action, has done it again. Collateral Damage is the first book in her new series Danger Never Sleeps. Brook Adams is newly discharged from the Army and is anxious to get her psychiatric practice going. Asher James had rescued her from an explosion, now he is discharged and needs counseling. Who better than Brook to help him? I enjoyed the touch of romance amidst the bombs and murder that follow the pair everywhere they go. The story does take a disturbing turn ...more

Lynette Eason has another winner. Collateral Damage starts off with a bang and keeps you guessing the entire time you read. I loved the suspense in it, the military aspect, and of course, the romance.

The suspense comes out of nowhere, but stays ever present as the story moves along. And the romance between Asher and Brooke was so sweet. It was a slow burn imo and wonderfully integrated between the suspense and guessing of who the ultimate bad guy was.

What’s even better is that this is just a sta

This book starts out with a bang and kept me up late flipping the pages to find out what happened next. I really liked this book and I am excited about the next one! Typically military type books aren't my go to but every once in a while an author pulls me into this setting. I loved the characters, they were well written and I hope we get to read more of them. I like how the book kept you guessing without being over the top and unrealistic. I appreciated how PTSD is explained a bit and even the

My rating is a 3.5 on Lynette's newest read. This book is certainly action packed. It starts off with action just a few pages in and it's a thrill ride from start to finish. I liked Brooke and Asher and meeting the side characters we are sure to see more of as the series continues. The plot was interesting and unique but the what the crime ended up being was a little much for this Mama's heart. There was also another plot twist that wasn't my favorite element. It fit the storyline well, but the ...more

I listened to this amazing romantic suspense while working out. It made the time go quickly. This is action packed and had my attention from the get go. The narrator did a wonderful job. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I think this just might be my favorite Lynette Eason book of all time. WOW it was amazing from page one to the very end. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, fidgety until I could start reading again (why does work get in the way?!), and holding my breath through most of the action. This book has it all - suspense, twists, action, romance, surprises and more!

Here are some notes I took while reading (omitting any spoiler information):

"Collateral Damage" is a Christian romantic suspense. Both Brooke and Asher were dealing with PTSD as well as unsupportive families. The suspense came from repeated, violent attempts to get something from Brooke. They needed to figure out what was going on, why she was a target, and who was behind the attacks. The main characters were kind people who reacted realistically to events. Brooke and Asher supported each other, built each other up, and made a good team. There were other characters invo ...more
