SOLVED. Children's Picture book- A girl learns about being an author from her mother and tries to decide if she wants to be one as well. I read this book sometime between the ages of five and twelve, so I can say for certain it came out before 2002. [s]

I do remember a scene towards the end where the mom's new books have been shipped to the house, and she and her daughter open them together. Sadly, the rest is kind of fuzzy.
