Faouzia | 308 comments Finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane. 2 Stars

I really don't know what to say about this book. I read others by Neil Gaiman and enjoyed them and I was expecting the same for this one. But I didn't.
The story bothered me and I can't put my finger on what exactly I didn't like. I simply couldn't get it, I guess.
I couldn't give up on reading this book but I didn't enjoy, hence the 2 Stars instead of just 1.

Lillie | 1688 comments That's a bummer when you enjoy an author and then you come across one of their books that isn't on par with the rest of the backlist. Hopefully your next book is good.

I hate when that happens with a book. Hopefully the next read will be better.

I had the same reaction, but for me Gaiman is not a favorite author, so it was easy to abandon it. Hopefully you'll enjoy your next read better.

Exactly. I love when that happens, because that means the book was GOOD! :)

Faouzia | 308 comments Back to the challenge I neglected for a long time. Just started Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz

Faouzia | 308 comments I managed to finish two more books of this list.

Huntress Moon (The Huntress/FBI Thrillers, #1) by Alexandra Sokoloff 4 Stars
I wanted to read this one for a while, many Goodreads friends loved it and i was hoping it would be the same for me. And it was!
I enjoyed it greatly, although at some points it was rather disturbing and somehow special, since it features a female serial killer.
The good thing that came of that was that readers are spared the usual scenes of torture\mutilation of women victims that are bound to appear in most serial killer thrillers.
It is of course part of a series (very unwise of m to start a new one) and i would be reading the next books.

Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz 3,5 Stars
i actually enjoyed it more than i expected (Thanks Alondra for the recommendation). Odd Thomas was sometimes funny and in a way rather endearing. I loved reading it and i enjoyed most of the story (except when Dean Koontz kind of broke my heart). And i will most definitely keep reading the series.

Faouzia | 308 comments That's it for this year. I don't think i will finish the other books of this list. actually, some of them are already on the new list :D

The Odd Thomas books are quite different. I'm like you, was pleasantly surprised by the first book. I hope to get back to it next year. I finally gave up on my last book in this challenge. I hope I'm a bit more successful with it next year.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments I enjoyed Odd Thomas at the beginning, but didn't enjoy the later books the same.

I don't even remember recommending this; though, I am sure I did somewhere along the way. It's been many years since I read book 3, and I really wanted to complete the series. *sigh* Glad you enjoyed it!

That first book looks good and folk seemed to enjoy it. I may have to add it
