June 2022 - What are you reading?

I've had Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart on my "To Read" shelf for some time, but I felt based on things I'd heard about it that it was a book I needed to be in the right frame of mind to handle. I'm finally starting it and looking forward to it.

I absolutely loved The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School a young adult title featuring a central character, Yamilet Flores, who is a young Latinx lesbian—though she's still not sure about sharing that last part with other people. You don't have to be a young adult to be charmed by Yamilet.

Bill: Now Is the Hour is one of my all-time favorites. Hope you are enjoying it! I just bought a hardcover copy of The Kingdom of Sand, Andrew Holleran's new novel, because I'm sure it will be passed around between friends. Eager to start it. I'm still working on To Paradise by Hanya Yanagihara. I'm one of those who can be reading multiple books at the same time.
