Symbol | 14 comments I read this book a long time ago. I don't even know if I finished it. I remember that the main character was a young boy (teen or pre-teen, I think) who couldn't walk. The book was set in the medieval time period. You know, knights and armour and all that jazz?

I believe that something bad (the plague?) happened in his hometown. He got rescued at the beginning of the book but was very weak and couldn't move or feel his legs.

It seems to me that he was taken in by a monk or monks to recover. I remember they made him a special saddle so that he could ride a horse.

I also remember one particular scene in which his caretakers took him swimming. He played a joke on them by hiding under the water. They feared that he had drowned but were relieved that he was in high enough spirits to be playing jokes once the jest was revealed.

I think that once he started to recover a knight came and took him away from the monastery. Those details are a little (er... okay, a lot!) fuzzy though.

I'm sorry to say that I can't remember anything else about the book. Any help in solving this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million!
