Lynne Modranski (lynnemodranski) | 7 comments Hi fellow authors and readers!
I'm looking forward to some great discussions here. I love honest feedback.

I read in one thread that someone suggested not to write for book sales. I had to wonder, do any of you do that? I've heard people say they were giving up because they weren't getting sales, but I'll be honest, the words leak out of me. I've always written--journals, letters, short stories, thoughts on scripture. I finally put it out there for others because I had so much, I figured why not?!

I'm a mom of three and grandma of four (they call me Hada). My two oldest grandkids are/will be in college--an astro physicist and an aerospace engineer. Two of my daughters are entreprueners, and the third is a teacher (Math and English are her majors, so she's also my chief proofreader).

I love historical fiction and fantasy as well as almost all Christian non-fiction, so if you have those genres, I'm sure I'll be requesting some of your books because I also love to review.

In order to make some money to fund my writing habit, I freelance edit, so if you need an editor, hit me up.

You'll find me online everywhere as Lynne Modranski - I'm the only one of those, so on most social media platforms if you just take out the space, you'll find me. My website is LynneModranski.com

I look forward to getting to know you!

Lynne

OH WAIT! Do you wonder what I'm working on now? I'm finishing the final edit on my first novel! I've never written fiction before, but a couple of years ago, I was reading the book of Nehemiah and wondered about his extended family. It rattled around in my head for a couple of weeks and finally Adira was born. Adira: Journey to Freedom follows the adventures and struggles of Nehemiah's teenage niece through her twenty-fifth year. I'll share more about that in another thread after I get to know some of you better!

Since you love historical fiction, I have one I'm trying to add honest reviews to on the "big boss" of all-things-books. Let me know if you'd like to read His Gift, which is based on a true event in my mom's life in October, 1929. I can send you a Kindle, or a pdf.

Thanks,
Joan

I think I already left a review. If not, message me because I meant to!

Joan C Benson (goodreadscomjoancbenson) | 11 comments Thanks! I found it on Goodreads. If you ever feel so led, I would love to have a similar review on Amazon.

Thank you for your kind consideration.
Joan

Bon (bon_cheung) | 3 comments Hello, I have sign up in Goodread for 3-4 months already ( I can't remember the exact time. However, I still don't know how to download any book which I want to read and write a review yet? (Even I have received tons of request every week. ) Can anybody in this group to teach me. Goodread seems to be quite complicated for those who didn't have time to learn how to operate in this website (Just like me😊). I have written and published a book in May 2022 but surely need some Christian reviews as well. I don't have any friends in Goodread exact this group. Can anybody help me with the questions in this comment box. Thank You and God bless you all.

Barbara Raymond | 3 comments I have never downloaded a book from Goodreads sio i can't help you there but to review a book all you need to do is find that book on goodreads and go to reviews. There you can write your own review. Hope this helps.

Angie Thompson (angiethompson) | 19 comments Goodreads isn't meant for downloading books; it's more for sharing reviews, organizing your reading, and connecting with other readers and writers. There are links on most books to the sites where you can buy them, but they're not downloadable from Goodreads. However, if an author is looking for reviews, they might be willing to send you a link where you can download the book. Hope this helps!

Ivan Chamurliev | 31 comments Hello, Bon. You can ask some of the authors to send you a digital copy of their book like PDF.

As stated by others in the group, Goodreads is for connecting and finding books to read, but not sharing. So it is social media for book lovers, but not a library.... If that analogy helps.

You can post info about your book and offer to send folks a copy, but a review (according to Amazon terms) cannot be required or made 'in exchange for a free book'.
You will also find similar offers in the group of people launching books and offering them for free and 'if you enjoy it, please leave a review.'

Lynne,

I have published seven novels and lost money on all of them. That might surprise people when they see the hundreds of reviews I've gotten. But the truth is, I spend about two dollars for every dollar I make in ads (mostly in ads), editing, and cover design costs. The catch here is that most of my orders are free giveaways that are driven by expensive ads. So obviously I don't do this for the money. For money, I work two jobs (one full time and one part time) as a medical lab technologist. The writing, however, is my escape from work. I write because I enjoy the creative process. And because my books have a strong Christian apologetic message, I also consider my writing to be a ministry. I consider the money I spend on ads a form of tithing to support that ministry. Also, I really get a kick out of reading my positive reviews :-). It gives me a sense of self-worth, a sense that I am using the talent God gave me to, at least in some small way, to help encourage belief in the Gospels. So, if you don't write for the sales, then you are not alone.

Ivan Chamurliev | 31 comments I perfectly agree with you, R. A. Williams. I am going through the same situation.
I am pretty new in writing though and I know I can get better in each area and in the sales too but I know that this is done for the glory of God and it is worth much more than just doing it for income.

R.A. Williams | 5 comments Ivan,

I like to think my royalties will be repaid in Heaven, even though I don't deserve it. The joy of writing and publishing is reward enough. Good luck with your writing!

God bless,

Russell
