Askur | 3 comments This is not a book I have read, but I planned to read it when I saw people talking about it in the past, and I had written the name of the book down but, alas, I have lost it! I would really love to find the name of this book again, so let me write down all the details I remember from the blurb and cover.
PUBLICATION DATE: I think it should be recent, probably last 5 years. It might have actually be a last year's book. I think it's likely, but not certain.
GENRE: Probably horror, or something of the sort. Maybe it was just a Burton-esque, unnerving story, or something bizarre.
PLOT: I only remember some of the basics from the blurb: set in America (I think), some adults are going together in a place that was the setting of a children's book they loved, which (I think) contained talking animals. They discover something dark about the place, and probably the book as well. Maybe some sort of conspiracy...
COVER: I'm not sure about this, but I think the cover was in black and white, with the background being black and containing the white image of a woodland mammal, probably a rabbit, a wolf or a fox. I didn't have much shading, almost as if it had been an old print, but still realistic.
This is all I remember, unfortunately. Is anyone able to help me with that?

TR (trich042) | 7 comments The Light Between Worlds (by Laura E. Weymouth) has a stag on the cover and was published in 2018. It's about two sisters who visited a magical world with talking animals when they were younger; one of the sisters is trying to go back as an adult. I don't think the magical world was the setting of a book they read though. And I think they live in England, not America.

The Magicians (by Lev Grossman) has the plot elements you mentioned (American main characters going to a magical world from a book they loved as children that has talking animals; the world, and the book's background, turns out to be darker than they expected; etc). However, the cover doesn't look right and it was published in 2009.
