SOLVED. Children's fiction about an Island with 2 time zones. [s]

Children's fiction in English, I read it about 1960 in England. Half of the island lives a day behind the other half. Then flower pollen puts half the island to sleep for a day, uniting the island. I remember there was a map of the island in it, but that's about all. Does anyone know what the book is called and who the author is?

Rainbowheart - thanks for the suggestion - it looks promising. While I don't recognise the cover, I do remember it was "greenish", so could be right. Publication date looks good too. The book description doesn't prove anything one way or another - it's an island so they probably did use a boat, and I while don't recognise the title, I'm pretty sure it contained "island". (I was only about 7 years old). I should be able to confirm it after I visit the British Library. Where on earth did you get the title from? Really grateful you did!!

I found it by searching juvenile fiction in Worldcat with keywords "island" and "london" published between 1940 and 1963. It came up on the third page of results.
