I read this series around 1957-1960. One time a family went to post war Germany for a year. Other books set at different army bases. Girls went to dances at West Point. One of the girls became an actress in New York. One child was difficult and the book "Wednesday's Child " focused on her. Mostly the children were well behaved and loved their army base lives.

The only Wednesday's Child from that time period that I could find doesn't seem to match your description.

That was a mistake - it is not solved and I haven't been able to find it so far.

That was a mistake. It is not solved. It was a series that would appeal to girls. Featured children living on army bases in the U.S. after WW2. The boys in the books grew up and went to West Point and the girls ent to dances there. One of the. girls went off topic and became a Broadway actress.
