SOLVED. YA Fantasy: Supernatural story about thing tying themselves into knots on their own

Elizabeth Chandler OKAY! So I read this book in middle school around 2008, I'd say it was probably published anywhere between 2000 and 2008, hopefully. From what I remember its about a girl who returns to her hometown after some kind of traumatic history there (I think her mother dies? maybe she drowns in the lake or something? could be wrong) And she's totally freaked because all of the items in her room keep tying themselves into weird knots, like all of her clothing and jewelry. It's creepy, pretty sure its supernatural or ghost related and has to do with her mother. Another thing I'm pretty sure about is that the book is divided in half and has two stories, this one being the first and the second one being about some crazy familial drama thing. I believe the cover had cool colors tones like blues and maybe like a necklace or something on the front? Sorry I don't remember everything very concretely, I also believe its not aimed at a super young audience but as I read it in middle school with little to no problem I've listed as Y/A.
