Hello All, My name is Melissa. I just joined Goodreads so I don't have many friends. I love reading but I usually go in spirts. I have Lupus & Crohn's so when the pain is bad or I have a flair it hard to focus. So I switch off and on between reading & drawing to keep my mind busy. I live in the Midwest in the States. My favorite genre is horror. I feel its prob the most misunderstood underrated Genre's. It forces the reader to look at, feel, & work through things most shy away from in their everyday lives. It can also be just good fun with monster flicks/haunted houses.
I also enjoy thrillers, mystery, & crime books. I am also obsessed with history. I have been trying to dip my toes into sci-fi/Fantasy. I have read Tolkien & Harry Potter but aside from that I had not read much. So plan at some point to try the Wheel of time series & Brian Sanderson. I got the first book in the Game of thrones series. Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, Project Hail Mary, Dead Silence, Snowcrash, & the Dune series. We will see if I can get myself into the genre as I am not sure what I will enjoy yet!
I just finished The Hollows by Daniel Church which was an amazing snowed in monster flick Perfect for this time of year. I really enjoyed. Its prob one of my favorite monster books in a while! Previous I read Devil in Silver by Victor Lavelle which was a difficult but important read in my opinion- And I am thinking of ending things by Iain Reid.
I'd love some book friends or if anyone has a book club or buddy reading group they wouldn't mind adding another person- Id love to be included. Happy Holidays to everyone & wishing a happy new year 2023!

Welcome, Melissa! You have come to right place as we love to dip into all those genres as well. :)
We have plenty of threads on here with book reads, etc. We also have a poll going on right now for picking a book to read for our Big Buddy Read in January. Over on the home page to the far right you will see a box that lists some different things - one of them is polls. If you click on that it will take you to the poll that is going on and you can look at the books on the poll to get an idea of what they are about and then you can vote on them as well. We are doing Sci-Fi for next month.
We have all kinds of things on here that keeps the members involved. Happy reading and hope you enjoy the group. If you need help with anything just ask. :)

Hi all! I'm Jess and I'm from Newfoundland, Canada.I have been on Goodreads since 2012, but I don't post much because I am shy (even online!). I am a huge horror fan and have been most of my life. I started reading the Fear Street series when I was 10 (in 1992), watched "It" around the same time and I have continued to love horror books, movies and shows ever since. I do also love a good mystery and thriller to mix things up.

Welcome Jess!! This is a great group to join :) I’ve been a lifelong horror fan too! I remember watching the IT tele-series on tv with my older brother and it scaring the crap outta me & I was immediately hooked on that feeling haha!
