Mares of Diomedes
The Mares of Diomedes are galloping through your lands and nibbling on villagers as they go. They may require only moderate effort to defeat, but don't underestimate them. The Four Horsemen's horses give them wide berth.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 200 and 299 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book with fire on the cover.
3.) Read a book where a character gets poisoned (food poisoning is acceptable, does not have to be fatal).
4.) Read a book whose title contains all the letters of HERA.
5.) Read a book with a Goodreads rating between 3 and 3.5 (inclusive)
We're only one task away from destroying the Mares of Diomedes using banked books! We just need one with a Goodreads rating between 3-3.5 :)And Sixty has a book in progress that will work! Nicely done.
Stymphalian Birds
Stymphalian Birds have been seen filling your orchards and causing delays in harvesting. They are hard to defeat because of their numbers. Music can soothe the savage beasts, may want to try metal bands.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 350 and 450 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that is #6 in a series.
3.) Read a book with a musical instrument mentioned in the text.
4.) Read a book with something metal on the cover.
5.) Read a book that features a bird (bird shifter accepted).
For “mentions some type of championship” do you guys consider the european swimming championship ok. Im from america and was wondering if anyone knew if this was a big championship
Harpies
Groups of Harpies have been spotted on your lands, ruining outdoor feasts at every opportunity. Easy to defeat with the motivation to chase them far enough away, enjoy the cardio.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 100 and 125 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that features a feast or banquet.
3.) Read a book that contains a chase (car chase, foot chase, etc).
4.) Read a book with a character who is royalty.
5.) Read a book that features a thief.
We were able to kill one of our Medusas! Looks like we'll have a bit of work to do on the Harpies, though. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

I highly, highly recommend The Violin Conspiracy!! Even if you don’t like mysteries, it’s amazingly well written and highlights very relevant race issues. I’d had it on hold for weeks, so it was just coincidence I finished it on Juneteenth here in the US (the day we recognize the end of slavery in America).
Sphinx
The Greek Sphinx has been spotted on your lands and befuddling your citizens left and right. Requires some planning and moderate effort to defeat, send your smartest warriors and for the love of all the gods, don't confuse her with her good-for-nothing Egyptian cousin.

3.) Read a book where the MC must solve a riddle.
4.) Read a book with a mountain on cover.
5.) Read a book with a brown cover (at least 50%).

I’m working through The Witch's Heart and it drives me mad that a book with Loki as a main character doesn’t have a riddle and nobody is called hard-headed!!Does Oden count as royalty?

It is but unfortunately my cover isn't listed. This is the same publisher with the same page length but came out a year after mine. Mine has a couple of jugglers on the cover tossing bones and knives.

@Sixty - please keep an eye out if your Zeus book can work for any more Thphon tasks now that we have TWO of them. Also, it’s going to take me a bit to get through Roots for the Charbydis because this week work is really busy. So if anyone beats me to those tasks - go for it.
A question for that. The book is a series of retellings of myths, so I don't know if a character in any given myth can be considered a main character since it's a bunch of different stories. There are plenty of the myths where the MC is a father. If that counts it can also work for #5. No mention of a volcano yet, but I am keeping an eye out for it.
