I finished up Undeath and Taxes last night and started on A Dance with Dragons and The Luminaries. They'll both take me a bit to finish but I have audiobooks so less time than it would take me to read them.

I have one more day of DQs for The Travelling Cat Chronicles and will finish the book today.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I haven't been able to do any reading or audio listening today so far due to work - ugh.

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Since we have the two non-spelling tasks done for Calliope should we try to do the spell it out for that one first?

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Not sure how the captains are doing it, I am assuming they are waiting toward end since those haven't been filled in yet. A lot of my reads after the two tasks will focus on vowels just in case since we need several.

A good thing about this group's spell it outs is they include character names, which gives a lot more options and makes much easier.

Vicki is taking the reigns on spell-out tetris on this one and will post a shout-out if we are struggling for letters.

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments RE: The spell-outs, I'm going to do a batch insert tomorrow after work and see where we are and if there's anything we need to really focus on.

If we read on track, we should be just over 100 books by the end of May. So, I'm going to start with the assumption that we will get all 84 books in and focus on filling in the uncommon letters first over making complete words. If it ends up looking like we won't make it, I'll shuffle around to get us as many complete words as possible!

Thanks Trinia, I've asked a librarian in the Captains group to add a page count to the paperback edition. Amazon has it at 272pgs https://www.amazon.co.uk/214-Palmer-S...

Robin (Saturndoo) (robinsaturndoo) | 1359 comments Hey Team!! I'm a little bit behind getting books read and posted but I'm getting back on track. I ended up having my grandkids an extra day because my son was sick UGHHHH. I didn't get much done while they were here LOL I'll try to get everything caught by tomorrow or Friday : )

Sounds like a great plan to me.

I know there is a penalty for over-reading as a team whole, but it looks hard to do so I don't think we need to worry about that too much unless it becomes extreme. I doubt we'll go over 100 books as a team in the remaining weeks of May, so at least there's that --- but hopefully we do get ALL of the Mini done-- love the mini and bonus themes =)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments No more audio for me today unless I go for an evening walk. I got - wait for it - less than FOUR hours of sleep last night. Could not fall asleep until after 330 and had to be up by 7 for a long day. Just clocked out. For background noise right now I mentally need more stimulation, so going to do old fashioned TV for a bit. Will try to do physical reading later when / if catch a second wind.

I'm confident that we will complete the May mini. We are on target with 21 books read over 3 full days. We have 13 full days to complete the mini, I will get a countdown posted later.

Louise | 3331 comments Managed to finish the BOM which I really enjoyed and The Perfume Collector. Didn't manage to get started on The English Patient had 2 conference calls sprung on me. Should be able to get it done tomorrow, going to see if I can find an audio with a mask on the cover.

Refer back to the thread. :) The way the MODs have the spreadsheet set up we can't put placeholder books into the Mini Challenge, so if it's claimed but unread we're only tracking it in the thread.

Although I could put an additional tab with some info into the tracking spreadsheet if people would find it helpful/easier to find? (Honestly, might just do it anyway LOL).

EDIT: I added a "May Mini Needs" tab to our tracking spreadsheet.

Let me know if you need specific letters. I don't have anything specific picked out to read next, and wanted to tailor my reading to what letters we need. Thank you.

I can cover several U's and random vowels. Alien will definitely work for an A. We don't need to worry about the Y's because of all reading the BOM and that works for it. Hm, looks like we are good to go for the time being.

The tab that has been added is helpful, thank you.

Right now the only tasks are for the May Mini Challenge. Books not used for the mini challenge work for page points for the overall team score.

There's a tab on the spreadsheet for tracking the BOM and DQs :)

message 232: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments It made me tear up too. That’s too books so far this month that made me cry. The other was before the challenge started and the book was 10 Things I Hate About Pinky. Every book in that series made me cry. But in a good way

There is a tab on the tracking sheet for BOMs for tracking DQ participation. You can either track your DQs on the sheet or post your completion in the thread and we’ll transfer it to the sheet.

You should be able to edit any part of the tracking spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

The Team Official spreadsheet is restricted to Captains only

WTG Team!!! Thanks for the "Needed" tab on the spreadsheet. That really helps a lot. Especially since I really didn't plan out any books to read. I can just read what we need : )
I did get my 2 my two task books posted to the spreadsheet! I told you all I'm really challenged with spreadsheets but getting lots of NEEDED practice with all these team challenges LOL My next few reads should help with some of those pesky vowels--particularly A, E, and I is what I will have--I think : )

I hope everyone is having fun and getting in lots of reading time. I will be back in a bit!!!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I am so tired today again. I got some sleep last night compared to the night before, but have an irritated tooth and, between needing to catch up on sleep, and taking pills for that, and busy work, I am hit by exhaustion. I resumed audio reading now and am hoping to finish off some books today and get a lot of reading done this evening.

We still need 5 of both O and I but everything else is under 4!

Normally I'd be worried about P, but the MC's last name in the Backroom BOM will cover that and I looks like we have at least 4 people reading that.
