Woohoo, mere hours left!!

I'm planning to dig into The King's Dragon and the Fire and Valor series first once the clock hits.

For now trying the new series on Netflix of The Lincoln Lawyer and just being lazy in general.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments It looks like Wildfire will likely be the winner of the Backroom BOM read since the poll closes later today and it's in the lead a decent amount. This looks better than some of the other choices at least.

Woo so excited! I'm starting with Undeath and Taxes and The Language of Flowers that I need for other challenges, then digging into my big books for this one.

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments I have my alarm set to start. I can probably read 2 books today. Maybe 3 if they’re small

message 156: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments ohhh I'm excited about Wildfire, the dinosaur one had a very commanding lead when I voted a few days ago.

10 minutes to go and I'm excited to start! I have a few chores to get done early this evening so I'll be starting Hush by Dylan Farrow in audio and then once I can sit down I'll start a physical or e-book.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I finished The King's Dragon - was good and planning to read the other two in the series as easy reads for me to start the challenge. Fits mini task 62 - "King" in Title. It was good, hoping the trilogy holds up.

My son has on re-runs of the Office on, so will keep reading in between watching and having fun with him.

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Finished I'm Perfect, You're Doomed: Tales from a Jehovah's Witness Upbringing it has poetry in the text. It's the authors poetry - does that work or does it need to be a famous poets poetry quoted in the text?

message 167: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments I finished Hush today! I also finished Exhalation which doesn't count for the challenge since I started it over a week ago - but it does free up a spot for more challenge books! :)

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments I was curious about how many of each letter we needed for the spell it outs in May, so I did some tallying (listed in order of most to least needed).

E 10
A 7
I 6
L 6
O 6

P 5
R 5
T 4
C 3
H 3
M 3
N 3
U 2
Y 2
S 1

No need to claim any letters, but definitely keep your eyes out for E, I, O (because we need so many of each) and Us (because they're definitely uncommon).

Luckily, The Travelling Cat Chronicles has a Y character so we're guaranteed to get those in the normal course of things!

I volunteered for questions

Actually the series I'm now reading is by this author group and they aren't bad for once, so I'm excited for this book.

I've been a member over 7 years and use it often. Love KU, but I love urban fantasy series and select paranormal series, and there are loads in there for these.

message 178: by Stacey (new)

Stacey | 897 comments Wow, some of you are so fast! I should have 2 done later this week. And I'll have to look into the Backroom BOM. May have to look into KU for it as I tend to be more of an audible person for most other things.

No worries Stacey I won't be able to read much Thursday and Friday because I'm traveling for work so I'm trying to get a lot done early in the week. I like audible as well - I can listen when I drive.

message 180: by Vian (new)

Vian (vianvamp) | 363 comments I'm super jealous of all our fast readers. Luckily, I just started a show so I'll have some commuting hours to listen to the audiobooks, and hopefully knock out some prompts.

I just re-signed up for KU. I love all the random paranormal stories so much.

No pressure Stacey, I “read” audios quicker tend to read at double speed and can generally knock out a book every other day, ebooks and paperbacks are slower but I do enjoy them.

KU is great, I did unsubscribe a couple of months back after having subscribed for about 6 years or so but the Backroom BOMs are on KU and they were doing a 2 month free promotion.

I also listen to audiobooks at 1.75 to 2 times speed. I feel like at normal speed they are reading in slow motion! With my ADD I have to listen at a faster speed in order to pay attention. My mind drifts if it's normal speed and I have to rewind.

Kerri (kerrimcbooknerd) | 1200 comments I went into this knowing I'm a slower reader, but I'm still super impressed by y'all! I'm making good progress on The Atlas Six, though, and I'm really enjoying the current BOM. I feel like it's definitely gonna make me cry.

message 188: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments I’m reading the BOM right now. I’m like 20% in and I’m finding it boring.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments While working I started the Alien novelization audiobook today out of a random mood. Pretty good background noise.

message 190: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished my first read, The Language of Flowers. Should be able to finish up one more tonight as well.

Agreed, some of you are super fast!

I'm glad you are enjoying it. The pace for me is very slow. And I feel like I know why he is getting rid of his cat since the very first friend he reconnects with.

I agree! I'm loving getting Nana's POV. It makes me think of my cats and what they might be thinking in similar situations. I can guarantee they would be just as snarky 😂 It's definitely a quiet story and I feel like the end is going to hurt...

message 194: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments I finished it. The pacing was a bit slow and I was going to give it 3 stars but it did end up moving me and I cried so I will give it a 4

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments I finished the third book in the Fire and Valor series in a nice bath a few minutes ago. Made some progress in The Great Gatsby today and listened to a few hours of Alien.

Finally got The Travelling Chronicles PDF to load on my kindle - would not last night - and will start that one tomorrow, as well as probably Firestarter by Stephen King and The Omens by Kelley Armstrong, while of course continuing The Great Gatsby, a short Perry Mason book I started yesterday, and more of Alien.

Will have some "short" books finished this month but it looks like we need over 70 books to get the Mini completed, I believe, or up to 66 - so we may have to fit some short ones in for those points and the fun of it anyway.

So far this team has started out STRONG and fun - great going all!!

Louise | 3331 comments Good morning all. Love to see all the reading happening, trying hard not to add to my TBR 😈

Will listen to more of The Travelling Cat Chronicles today, loving Nana’s personality, he reminds me of the cat we adopted, sadly he passed 4 years ago at the grand old age of 21.
Started Shopping for a Billionaire for another challenge. It’s a short ebook so should have it done in a day or two. Hoping to finish The Perfume Collector today on audio, I’m working from home so should have no distractions, next audio up is The English Patient which I may be able to fit in today. 🤞
Right need to grab some breakfast and walk the dog before starting work.

message 197: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments Getting ready for bed. I finished Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk tonight. Tomorrow night after work I have a class. Thursday and Friday I will be traveling for work. Home for Saturday and then Traveling again Sunday-Tuesday. I may get one more book finished before I leave for business. I'm traveling with someone so doubt I'll get much read on the first trip. My second trip I'll have Sunday and Monday evening to myself in a hotel room so may get another one read there. I did two days of the BOM answers and posted. I'll still try to check in over the next few days. Sunday I will likely go to a Bookstore in the city I'm traveling to. I'll try to get in some smaller books so we can hopefully meet the spell it out tasks. Happy Reading everyone.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Jenn, that sounds like a busy few days! Lots of traveling and work. Hope that all goes well.

Louise, sounds like you have a solid plan too and sound like me with several going at once.

Trinia | 2503 comments Hey all , Sorry I've been MIA... been checking in just haven't had a chance to chat.

Finished The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa and will do my DQ's today. Starting my monster book Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon today. Hopefully I can get through a good amount of it!

Happy Hump day!

message 200: by Stacey (new)

Stacey | 897 comments Just finished my 3 days of DQs. Will finish the book tonight. I started with a longer book to try to up my page points. The book has an interesting premise, but it is just not my style. I've continued upping the speed of the audiobook and will finish this week.

I'm still on track for my 3-4 books this month. I can easily be 4 with the BOMs being so short. I'll look for something a bit longer than normal, but I hope to choose more wisely.
