Thanks Louise! Surprisingly I don't feel too bad today, but definitely happy to have a day to just relax and read 📚.

I then slept super late! Will read more this weekend, but right now watching The Boys newest episode and drinking first cup of coffee for day

@Tati - I'll let someone else chime in for sure, but I'm pretty sure a non-fiction setting is still a setting!

Python

Python has been seen on your lands, searching for Apollo and Artemis. He's not that hard to kill as Greek monsters go being just a really big snake, may be interested in ladies with buns. Be warned though, his death may require a penance be paid to satisfy Zeus.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 100 and 125 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that features twins.
3. Read a book whose author name (first or last) starts with a letter in SWORD.
4.) Read a book where a character is pregnant.
5.) Read a book that mentions some type of championship games (World Cup, Olympics, World Series, etc)

He was one of our first monsters, but it's been awhile since had him.

Typhon - 5
Minoraur - 4
Polyphemus - 4
Siren - 4
Neamean Lion - 2
Python - 2
Scylla - 2
Harpies - 1
Lamia - 1
Medusa - 1
Mares - 1
Charybdis - 1
Cerberus - 1
Sphinx - 1
Colchian Dragon - 1
Empusa - 1
We have never had --
Chimera, Echidna, Erymanthian Boar, Lernaean Hyrdra, Stymphalian Birds

We need readers for warships. Also with regards to non-fiction a setting is still a setting.

Has to be twins

Head on over to the supergroup Mythics . Books used need to have started after the warship challenge began, 9pm Uk Time on Friday 1st. To ensure our strategy remains under wraps all discussion regarding genres will take place over there

Ugh hope you feel better soon! It is really going around.

My son came home in a bad mood very early from work so not sure what happened there yet 0_0
I started Zeus yesterday and it's actually very cute, so don't think it will take much longer. Put on the monsters planning tab.

Since we get five per book and 15 per finished monster, that is 30 points each time we finish a monster - just figured out (I'm slow and late with figuring out the points lol). Happily we still have till the 15th so here's hoping we can knock some more out of the ballpark.
I do like having two mini options at once to keep the variety fun too. I find the mini game too confusing but can read genres for it and feel free to use books to fit in the right place. At least the genres are easy to figure out and fun to sort by, so me not fully getting it shouldn't be an issue with me participating since I'll still be contributing books for it

The grandkids have gone home so I have a few days to relax, read and catch up before the 2 boys come back.
I have spent some time reading and rereading the battleship rules and I am completely lost. Nothing is making sense to me about how it works : ( To overwhelming. I went to the Mythics group in hopes of getting more clarity and understanding but I'm even more confused now. I think I'm going to stay out of that and just focus on killing monsters(much easier)
I will be working on updating the spreadsheet of what I have read today. Hopefully I will have read something that will work on the monsters.
@Erin Murphy says thanks for the well wishes : ) Yummy dinner!! I think I need to come to your house to eat LOL
@Louise thanks!! I was getting a little stressed about Murphy. He was having the same symptoms as my other furbaby,Saturn, had right before she passed away in 2020. So thankful he is doing better. Oh no, it's really annoying to read a book and then realize it doesn't work. Hopefully it could be used elsewhere : )
@Kelsi Happy Belated Canada Day!!! Hope you had a great time celebrating and enjoying the day off from work.
@Jax OH NO so sorry...BOO on Covid. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

LOL sometimes it's simply irresistible : )

Just so you know, I will be in Ireland from the 9th-19th. I may read some, but I won't be checking in. I don't know what my internet situation will be and also plan on enjoying my vacation! Let me know what info you need from me before then. Info on how books fit for monsters, for example.

How exciting!!! The countdown is on lol : ) Hope you have an enjoyable vacation and wishing you safe travels.

My dream vacation spot is Ireland. Hope you have fun!
I just finished The Dragon Reborn for 500-650 pages but don't see any space on the spreadsheet for it, so it can be banked for page count for now :)

Thank you! It was a pretty great day 😄

Thank you! It was a pretty great day 😄

I finally got my books updated on the spread sheet. With all the real life activities this month my reading has slowed down a bit. I still have a few books on the go that I hope to have finished this week. I probably just jinxed myself by saying that LOL
@Kelsi you are more than welcome : )

Caucasian Eagle

The Caucasian Eagle has taken to the skies over your lands in the search of do-gooders who don't think the rules apply to them. Not so hard to defeat with a little effort and maybe setting some traps with organ meat.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 200 and 299 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book set in Russia.
3.) Read a book with a bird on the cover.
4.) Read a book with the letters LIVER in title (any order)
5.) Read a book where a character goes to prison/jail (or is already there).

Keep in mind that any of the new monsters won't have info on our spreadsheet, so if you've read a book that works for any of the Caucasian Eagle tasks, please let us know!

The Invention of Wings has a bird on the cover and it looks like we have a couple of books that would fit the other two.
I like these non Zeus sheep monsters.

I added a musical cover one just now that won't take me long to finish as that was left unclaimed for a monster for a bit. It's a very cute series - this last one I had read so quickly in Oct 2021 for another challenge that I'd like to revisit it.

I hope all in the US have a great 4th of July day today
Stranger Things has got me in the mood to rewatch some of the Nightmare on Elm Street series and of course for 4th of July there's always Jaws..... It's a relaxing day. Going to parents at 4 to eat with family but not in a big social mood today!
Going to get some reading in between TV, food, and just relaxing before back to work tomorrow.

Mares of Diomedes
Minotaur
Harpies
We only had Harpies and Mares one time, but very happy that blasted Minotaur has finally been conquered once and for all. We fought him a few times.
No more character described as "bull-headed" or "hard-headed" - yay!

Character goes to jail/prison (Gabriel arrested in book and spends jailtime)
It just covers 1 of them, so not sure if we have another book for now that works for more to use.

Hi Jenn, can you pop over to the Captain's group with this :)

YAY!!!! New monsters are exciting : )
Truly Devious works for LIVER in title. I added it to the monster planning sheet.

I'm feeling much better today. Kind of the tired restless I get when I've been sick for a bit and want to do "things".
I was browsing a few boxes of books a friend gave me when she moved and Little Fires Everywhere looks like it takes place in the suburbs (Shaker Heights, Ohio). I'm going to start this after I finish my current book unless someone says it's not a suburbs book.

Lernaean Hydra

Lernaean Hydra has entered your lands and destroying villages as it looks for a new home. If you manage to defeat this monster be prepared to answer "how are you still alive" every time you tell the story. The monster is interested in shiny things and is unconcerned about losing their head(s). Best be quick.
To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book 800 pages or longer.
2.) Read a book with MPG Adventure.
3.) Read a book with gold text on the cover.
4.) Read a book where the MC has a sister.
5.) Read a book that is #9 or higher in a series
