I finally got to read last night and finished Ghouls Gone Wild - that monster is done

@Stacey - I would say for the mini we should claim one per person at the beginning of the round, to make sure everyone has had a chance to hop on and contribute if they want. By Tuesday we can start filling in the rest of our spots if others haven't chimed in. We (as in the Captain's) might rearrange banked books between us and the supergroup for the final submit of the week and we can always add from the bank to get to our team's 5 book, so there's definitely nothing wrong with reading two and we'll figure out where best to use it as the week progresses! We do want to keep talk of any genres or numbers of books/per genre to the supergroup and away from prying Aegean eyes though!

@Tati - I'll let someone else chime in for sure, but I'm pretty sure a non-fiction setting is still a setting!

Python has been seen on your lands, searching for Apollo and Artemis. He's not that hard to kill as Greek monsters go being just a really big snake, may be interested in ladies with buns. Be warned though, his death may require a penance be paid to satisfy Zeus.

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 100 and 125 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that features twins.
3. Read a book whose author name (first or last) starts with a letter in SWORD.
4.) Read a book where a character is pregnant.
5.) Read a book that mentions some type of championship games (World Cup, Olympics, World Series, etc)

I just added several books I plan to get to this month to the planning spreadsheet and what they fit for with monsters and genre --- ones that don't list Genre only qualify for the monsters part of the challenge and not both (meaning I've already started them usually)

My son came home in a bad mood very early from work so not sure what happened there yet 0_0

I started Zeus yesterday and it's actually very cute, so don't think it will take much longer. Put on the monsters planning tab.

Since we get five per book and 15 per finished monster, that is 30 points each time we finish a monster - just figured out (I'm slow and late with figuring out the points lol). Happily we still have till the 15th so here's hoping we can knock some more out of the ballpark.

I do like having two mini options at once to keep the variety fun too. I find the mini game too confusing but can read genres for it and feel free to use books to fit in the right place. At least the genres are easy to figure out and fun to sort by, so me not fully getting it shouldn't be an issue with me participating since I'll still be contributing books for it

The grandkids have gone home so I have a few days to relax, read and catch up before the 2 boys come back.

I have spent some time reading and rereading the battleship rules and I am completely lost. Nothing is making sense to me about how it works : ( To overwhelming. I went to the Mythics group in hopes of getting more clarity and understanding but I'm even more confused now. I think I'm going to stay out of that and just focus on killing monsters(much easier)

I will be working on updating the spreadsheet of what I have read today. Hopefully I will have read something that will work on the monsters.

@Louise thanks!! I was getting a little stressed about Murphy. He was having the same symptoms as my other furbaby,Saturn, had right before she passed away in 2020. So thankful he is doing better. Oh no, it's really annoying to read a book and then realize it doesn't work. Hopefully it could be used elsewhere : )

Well it's 1:00 am here so Happy 4th of July to all US players : ) I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday. It's been so hot and dry here that a lot of counties/cities have banned fireworks. A few professional shows have taken place but not many.

I finally got my books updated on the spread sheet. With all the real life activities this month my reading has slowed down a bit. I still have a few books on the go that I hope to have finished this week. I probably just jinxed myself by saying that LOL

2.) Read a book set in Russia.
3.) Read a book with a bird on the cover.
4.) Read a book with the letters LIVER in title (any order)
5.) Read a book where a character goes to prison/jail (or is already there).

WOAH they changed out the monsters on the wheel! I've been at my parents this weekend helping my mom make new drapes for her living room, and we've still got a few panels to make. I can update the spreadsheet to add the new monsters later this afternoon.

Keep in mind that any of the new monsters won't have info on our spreadsheet, so if you've read a book that works for any of the Caucasian Eagle tasks, please let us know!

I just noticed an issue on the master spreadsheet. SOmeone put my book Crime and Poetry for Scylla saying it has 500 pages. IT doesn't. and when you hover over the link the link doesn't go to Crime and Poetry it goes to Mothman Prophecy. Wanted to bring to someone's attention

I added a musical cover one just now that won't take me long to finish as that was left unclaimed for a monster for a bit. It's a very cute series - this last one I had read so quickly in Oct 2021 for another challenge that I'd like to revisit it.

I'm feeling much better today. Kind of the tired restless I get when I've been sick for a bit and want to do "things".

I was browsing a few boxes of books a friend gave me when she moved and Little Fires Everywhere looks like it takes place in the suburbs (Shaker Heights, Ohio). I'm going to start this after I finish my current book unless someone says it's not a suburbs book.
