Murder, kidnap. A character called Barnes is commits arson but gets a plea deal, later his daughter is kidnapped by a child murderer who escaped jail. The kidnapper kills the mom. Kills a friend + put him in bathtub.

Hi guys was hoping you can help, I as far I got with the book was that the detectives had just interviewed a priest who the child killer had spoken to.
Bascially involves arson, murder, kidnapping. Child killer put kidnap photos online and detectives are trying to find him but he keeps miving around. Think its set in california in 1994 starts off with police interviewing Barnes who said he woke up his house on fire but police prove he caused it. The same Barnes is later working at a bank + some strange man comes in and talks about his daughter. Obviously not long before the daughter is kidnapped and photos are online. Daughter had a fever at the time + also revealed she need insulin
The person responsible is an escaped child killer + has since killed a friend and the mom of the child hes kidnapped

I just looked to see, but dont think so, thanks for the reply. In this one detectives are investigating child porn and raid someones house. When looking at the computer they find pics of a girl tied up. The reader alredy knows who it is as the author described earlier of how he crept into the house and injected the girl + took her away. Apparently the kidnapper had killed his previous wife and child + was in prison. Hes basically escaped + took this girl as his new daughter. He killed the mom when he kidnapped the girl as she came home when he was about to take her. The story is written mainly about 2 detectives but occasionally switches so it tells you what the bad guy is doing. The last bit i read is that the dad of the girl who has been kidnapped works at a bank and the bad guy had been into the bank previously. On paperwork hed left an address but the address is for a church + the preist there knows the guys who the detectives are after. I think i was about a third of the way through maybe half? They mention SoCal in there but not too sure about other locations. The female detective has a south Amercan sounding name like Gonzalez or similar csnt remember the guys name tho?
