I read this when it first came out and really enjoyed it. It's all about the grumpy-sunshine characters of Andrew and Georgie. Georgie is adorable - she looks superficial but is sweet and smart and caring. An adorable book!

I read this years ago as a young teenager and it became a favorite of mine, in the way that young teens can fixate on something or someone. Yeah, I was a nerd. ;) Anyway, I read and re-read it until my paperback copy was starting to fall apart.

I haven't read it in years and thought it would be fun to listen to the audiobook. I enjoyed it, but I didn't feel like it was as edgy as it felt when I read it at age 13 or 14. I'm sure it's my age and the fact that it simply was edgier then. But I enjoyed going back and remembering a book that was a big part of my younger life.

I've been pretty lukewarm about this entire series, but wanted to finish it because Alexis and Logan's relationship has been hinted at throughout the other books. It was a 3 star book for the first part, but Alexis became more and more rigid, cold, and clueless as the story went along. Sadly, I stopped caring about her because she was honestly not particularly likeable.

This is not a team decision, you may read a book initially published in the birth month of any teammate. You may not use your own birth month unless it is the birth month of another teammate as well. Use the initial publication date for this task. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page, use it! Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the teammate and their birth month in your completion posts.

This is a pretty standard storyline that's made better by a heroine who is interesting, flawed, and caring. Livvy is a bit of a hot mess, but a terrific baker. And the food in this book.... I was hungry through the whole thing.

There is some romance, but it's genre fiction rather than Romance with a capital R. It's really a story of Livvy maturing and realizing that she wants to be a part of a family and a community of friends.

There are a lot of difficult issues in Ally's life: divorce, adoption, and a child with a life-threatening illness. And honestly they made The Other Family a bit depressing to read. I love Ally's ferocity when trying to keep her child safe, but felt a little overwhelmed by everything she was dealing with.

Review: I'm quite surprised at how much I didn't love this, N.R. Walker is a go to author for me. Charlie really bothered me with his thinking and how he treats Travis though. The ending was sweet and ends on pretty much a cliffhanger. Off to check out the next book to see how things go for these two; I'm glad Travis stood up to Charlie.

A whole lot of readers loved this but I just found it to be okay. Maybe it's because I've been reading Lucy Score's most recent books and they are funnier and have more sparkle than this one. And I was bothered by the insta-lust - it didn't give me enough time to get to know the MCs before they got naked.

I also liked the idea of the mystery but was really bothered by the fact that it's a cliff-hanger.
