Review: This was a first read from this author for me, I'm pretty sure. I have very mixed feeling about it, therefore I gave it a 3. There is quite a bit of angst, homophobia, and violence in this story that I wasn't expecting. It started out good. Jaxson is the sheriff of Brigs Ferry and so far in the closet, I feared he would never see daylight. While he's not happy with his life he is trying to live up to his father's standards. Dane is from New York City and is trying to start a business in Brigs Ferry, but falls victim to the town. I really felt for him between the town and how Jaxson treated him. They do get an HEA in the end though.

I enjoyed this SE Asian re-telling of The Taming of the Shrew, including an homage to Lady Whistledown of the Bridgerton series. It's also the story of two people learning how to show and vocalize love.

Notable positives: Great cover and excellent work on the part of both of the narrators.
Notable negatives: Kareena's immediate family was over-the-top awful. And what's up with Prem referring to his penis as 'charlie' as if it's a standard slang term? Am I out of the loop because I've never encountered this and Sharma wrote it as if it was a usual synonym. It seemed strange and pulled me out of the story whenever he did it.

Review: This was a really cute, low angst story, and just what I didn't know I needed right now. Noah is a veterinarian, focused on his work, and never had a one night stand. He meets Haze and they hook up, they'll never see each other again right? I enjoyed both of them and the evolution of their relationship. The side characters were also enjoyable and I will be checking out more of the series.

This books sounds fun. Had to comment about the "Charlie" bit. I read one book that used that term repeatedly, and it totally threw me off, too lol!

Lauren Layne does NYC socialites well. Her heroines look rich and polished on the outside and are kind and sweet on the inside.

This is a Pygmalion/My Fair Lady re-telling with the hero as the Eliza Doolittle character. But Layne twists it around and Violet, the heroine, is the one who really grows and changes throughout the story.

It's light, low-angst book and a fun read.

I just loved this! CLo are right - we need some fun right now. And Something Wilder was a lot of fun. There's adventure and romance and bad guys and treasure.

The authors mention Romancing the Stone in their authors' note and I can definitely see the influences. And I love that they paid homage to RtS with their heroine's name - she's Lily Wilder and of course the heroine in RtS is Joan Wilder.

I think this is one of those 'it's not you, it's me' situations. I've been reading too many royalty-themed romances and they're all blending together in my head. And they all seem so similar.

A few notes:
This book ends with a cliff-hanger.
The narrators did a wonderful job.
