Scene of him going to bathroom and running out puking and dancer complains that the toilets aren't working so don't blame her for the mess. Making me think it might have been one of those EMP or meteor apocalypses that mess up infrastructure instead of zombies.
With him being the only person she's seen in weeks, she grows attracted, but all he can think about is how he misses his wife, feeling nothing as she puts on a dance for him after confessing what was obvious, that she was an erotic dancer.
later when they do hook up laying together in bed she insists that she is in love with him and he rejects that as he is just the only guy around. I remember the quote where she says "don't tell me how I feel"
As they travel they meet a woman and her brother. the woman is a cheerleader for a texas or Alabama sports team and looks exactly like his wife and they have chemistry. The dancer is feeling left out and whenever she tries to enter the conversation they make inside jokes with each other peeking their heads around dancer to giggle at each other.
The brother is not happy about this romance, cause of course he likes her, she's a cheerleader.
As for the visions or voices, I can't remember what they were about, but the end of the book the others are convinced that it might be the key to changing this world.
I also know this book wasn't romance or erotic despite the professions of the 2 female leads. Because he is relentlessly moody about all of it. I remember there was a bunch of negative reviews saying so.
Think I read this between 2015-2019 as this is when I started and stopped binging apocalypse novels. I think there is an audiobook of it, but I don't have any records of the book.
