I've got this downloaded on my kindle and I'm ready to go as soon as I finish my current eyeball-read (Wizard and Glass), but that's a re-read and should go quickly. I've read The Deep by Rivers Solomon, and I partially read An Unkindness of Ghosts before life got in the way and I had to set it aside, but I want to go back to it at some point.
Very much looking forward to this book. :)
I will definitely be reading this. I may interrupt my current eye-read so that I do read it this month!I’ve read both The Deep and An Unkindness of Ghosts and thought they were both excellent, so I’m excited about this one.
Finished Part One. I did not care much for An Unkindness of Ghosts but so far like this very much. Interested to find out more of Vern's story.
Started this one a couple days ago. I liked both Unkindness and The Deep, so I've been looking forward to this. So far I've only been reading a chapter a day to make sure I am not overwhelmed by it, but I like what I've read so far.
I am 16% in. Quite a raw book. Says things as they are, but doesn't relish in some gruesome descriptions (so far). It's different to what I usually read, but that's a good thing. I am looking forward to learning more.
I've read the first three chapters. At first I wasn't thinking much about it and just taking the initial parts in, but after some time I wondered where the fantasy was going to come from. There are some hints, perhaps. As for the content warnings, I'm not having a lot of difficulty with it so far. It does help to be warned, and I agree with Marie that it doesn't linger or go into excessive detail.
Finished Part 1 earlier this evening and so far I'm really enjoying it. Iliked An Unkindness of Ghosts and The Deep and it seems like I'll like this one just as much.
I recently started this as well. Trying to make it to VBC this month! I agree with what others have said it doesn't linger too much in the details. I'm not in love with the style of the book so far- it feels like the stream of consciousness of a teenager which I find a little tiring, but she's an interesting character for sure.
I'm glad I read your posts, because I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't feel very compelled by the first few chapters - but it is because it doesn't linger on details, we just go go go. But that didn't make it exciting tho, imo. So I've been having trouble picking it back up again because I'm not curious or excited by what I have read so far.
