Lynnie | 114 comments I also rated The Late Scholar 4 stars. I enjoyed it and liked that it was set in Oxford. Of the four JPW books I liked this one and the first one best for the mysteries.

I now feel sad that there are no more new Wimsey books to read!

Thanks for hosting this buddy read Adrian. It was great to return to this series.

Well I'm glad you still gave it 4 stars. I do understand about your "lunch breaks" comment.

I think it will probably be 4 stars for me as well, as I near the finish. And it is one of my favourites as well.
I agree that I shall really miss Lord Peter , Bunter and Harriet after this.

Adrian | 631 comments And now I have finished as well, my review is here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I have to admit, I thought this was the best of all the Jill Paton Walsh LPW novels, although, I felt they were all good, and a worthy continuation of Dorothy L Sayers.
I enjoyed , like Lynnie, that this was set in Oxford again, as it holds a special place in my heart.

I don't know how many if any of you, are still left reading or catching up, but I'd like to thank all the people who did read along and/or contributed their thoughts and insights over the last 18 months, without you it would've been a lonely read !!
Also a big thank you to Jean for allowing me to lead another group read ( I use the term lead very loosely as you know ), and also a big kick for somehow talking me into leading another group read nearly 2 years ago . I know she will somehow do it again and I will yet again thoroughly enjoy it.

Somehow my comment here must have not posted 🙄

Thank you so much Adrian, for another really enjoyable continuous buddy read. Yes, these are fast becoming a tradition of the "English Mysteries Club" aren't they, so I hope for another one very soon with you at the helm 😊

You're welcome Jean. The reality is that its fun to read a whole series, especially one i haven't read at all, or not for many years.
Once the house move finalises, if it ever does, i will be happy to dig out our discussions from a couple of years ago, and see what we think and where we go next
