Sometime in middle school (around 10 years ago) I read this book about children lost at sea after whales destroyed the boat they were on, and the 3 of them (I believe 3) were stranded in the sea.

I remember the only things they had on them were 3 flares to call for help, and a fishing rod. They use the fishing rod and actually catch one, but because they didn't have anyway of cooking it, they leave it out in the sun in hopes it'd cook, but it ended up still raw.

In the end, they get rescued by a helicopter after 1 or 2 weeks. They said it took so long because the tides drifted them very far away from where the whales originally attacked the ship. The kids were then treated immediately for severe sunburns. Can anyone tell me what the name of the book was?

It's fiction rather than nonfiction, but is there any chance it could be Shipwreck! by Jake Maddox?
